Chapter 20

To say I had been swept up in the moment would be an understatement. I had my arms wrapped around his neck to hold my balance whilst his arms had moved to hold my behind. I felt like in those fairy tales when the prince kissed the princess, only better because it was John and I. I was living the perfect kiss and I never wanted to disconnect from him. It was everything. Everything I had ever dreamt of.

Every girl be jealous.

The small touches felt like the best feeling in the world.

Why on earth did I wait so long for this?

I was so caught up in John that I completely forgot about everything else until the sound of wailing meets my ears.

Releasing myself, I look to my left and see Kai holding Dawn.

Kissing John made me forget the one thing I will always be; a mom.

"I'm sorry, Quinn, but she's-" Kai starts to apologise.

"It's okay, Kai. Don't worry," I shake it off, taking my stick and making my way over to my daughter. "I'll take her."

The minute she's in my arms, her cries stop.

Someone clearly missed her mom... either that or she's jealous I was spending time with John over her.

"I should um... I should go," John says, detecting the change in mood.

I feel bad for how our kiss ended, but Dawn is my child. She comes first.

Don't hate me, John.

"Yeah, I'll see you," I say and watch him walk away.

'Yeah, I'll see you?' Great job, Quinn.

When he's out of sight, my arm is hit by my brother.

"What the fuck man?"

Shit, my language.

"What the hell did I just witness?" Kai's practically jumping around. "You and Murphy were kissing like a lot! You two together? You two looked like you were trying for another baby! Oh my god this is huge!"

"Kai, keep it down!" I snap, hoping nobody heard all of that.

"Come on, Quinn. This is something you'd freak out about if it was the other way around!"

He's all over the place.

"Seriously though, did you two use protection?"

"Kai, we just kissed!"

Is he seriously thinking I would fuck John where everyone could see?

"Sissy, that was more than a kiss. You two pretty much swallowed each other."

Oh. My. God. Am I really related to this?

"Kai, what the fuck?"

He hits me again.

"Watch your language! You have little ears listening in," he says referring to the baby.

"Yeah, like it's any better hearing about her mom swallowing another dude."

A swear word is nothing compared to that.

"Quinn, what does this mean?" Kai whines.

"I don't know," I tell him. "I would've asked but we were kind of interrupted."

"I'm sorry, but I couldn't find Bellamy and-"

"It doesn't matter," I shake it off. "Dawn comes first."

"Next time, I'll knock," he promises.

"Kai, there's no door anywhere," I tell him.

"I'll make a door."

Billie's POV

"Now, as I was saying-"

"Raven?" A dark haired woman with brown eyes and older skin, approaches us, interrupting story time.

Little bitch.

"Abby, let me out of here, please," Raven begs the older woman. "It was stupid. I'm sorry."

Why do I get bitch vibes from her?

"No, I don't wanna hear it."

Ah, there we go.

"He was ready to throw Finn out the gate," she says.

"And you think I would let that happen?"

"I don't know."

At least she's being honest.

"No."

"The only way we're gonna make it through this is if we trust each other," Abby says.

Who the fuck trusts anyone these days?

"I'm trying."

A pause lingers before Abby announces, "she's free to go."

Take my only friend away, why don't ya!

"If you do anything like that again, you will be back here, and you will stay here. Do you understand me?"

Don't threaten my little bird.

She nods quickly before walking out, not even giving me a wave goodbye.

Betrayal, see? You can't trust anyone.

"Don't be too hard on her," Jaha mumbles from the corner. "She's a fighter. We need fighters."

"We need to find a way out without fighting."

"Impossible," I laugh from my spot on the ground. "We're grounders, we learn from a young age to fight for what we want and what is ours."

Turning to face me, Abby crouches down to my level. "You're from the sky, you're apart of our people. Help us. Help... your family."

"Fuck family!" I snap before leaning my head back against the wall. "We're all gonna die anyways. You may as well be first in line."

"There is another option," Jaha says. "And you know what that is, Abby."

"No," she turns back around. "No, that's not an option."

"We need to consider it."

"I said no. I am not sending a child to his death."

"But you're fine sending a newborn down to die," I speak out. "Yeah, that makes perfect sense."

"I didn't do that-" Abby says but I cut her off.

"Yeah but you didn't stop it, either."

"Billie-"

"I don't care what any of you say, you're all as guilty as each other," I explain. "And that's what dear old dad will learn when I come face-to-face with him."

Ready or not, here I come...
