The butler gave you a small smile. Now you were getting a better look at him you could see his sharp handsome features. He was tall and commanded attention and you'd bet anything that heads turned wherever he walked desperate to get another look at him. You didn't say anything to him, you just watched him bring in the tea cart.
But there was something about him that didn't sit right with you. Sometimes your powers allowed you to get a feel for someone or even an object or place, it meant that you could navigate around dangerous things and stay out of trouble. The air around the butler was dark like a shadow that followed him. You didn't trust him and everything in you told you to run from him, but if he was your brother's butler then he must be trusted so you'd trust him too.
"My lady" the butler spoke clearly confused about your silence.
"Oh, yes? Sorry I was... thinking" you murmured.
"I have brought your tea would you like to take your take in bed or at your table by the window" the butler opened your curtains and opened the window to let some fresh air into the room.
"Ummm at the table I guess" you felt a bit awkward; it had been some many year since someone had waited on you like this.
He nodded and pulled the trolly over to the table, you didn't know what to do so slowly edged your way over to the table still giving the butler a wide berth, you then awkwardly sat down, you watched him closely as he expertly filled your tea cup and placed it in front of you.
"Thank you" your eyes lowered as you didn't want to make eye contact with him either.
"Of course, my lady. I will send the maid in to help you change into something more appropriate for a person of your standing, the young lord wants to have lunch on the patio when you're ready. He has... some questions" the butler gave you a half bow and then went to leave the room "oh my lady. My names Sebastian Michaelis, don't hesitate to call if you need something."
You nodded to him just before he left feeling the tension in your body instantly release, there was something not right about that man and you were going to figure out what. You focused on the tea in front of you, you picked it up before placing it to your lips, it was the perfect temperature and the taste was amazing.
You quickly finished the cup, a warmth settling in your chest, just as there was a knock at your door. You stuttered a come in and the door opened to reveal a bundle of dresses stacked high over what you assumed was a person, you jumped up and ran over to the person taking some of the clothes off the pile, you then dumped them on the bed before looking back at the once hidden person.
"I'm so sorry, yes I am. You shouldn't have had to help me lady Phantomhive" it was the maid and she bowed.
She had purplish redish hair that were in pigtails. It was very messy but defiantly suited her character. She had big round glasses that meant you couldn't see the colour of her eyes; she was wearing a navy maid dress. You sent her a big smile when she stood back up, she seemed extremely nervous around you, so you wanted her to relax.
"It's ok, call me (Y/N), please I haven't been treated like nobility in a very long time" you said"I couldn't miss, it wouldn't be right of a simple servant like me to call a person of your standing by there name" she worried her lip a bit at your request.
"Can you at least call me (Y/N) when we're alone like this, I understand keeping to formalities in front of others as it may get you in trouble, but just between us?" you tried again.
"Ok I can do that Mi- (Y/N)" she smiled "Ack I was supposed to say, I have all these dresses for you from the young master. I'm here to help you wash and dress, which dress would you like to wear today"
You looked down to the bed, with the maid you both began to spread out the mountain of dresses "what's your name?"
"Oh sorry for not introducing myself. Mey-Rin, I am the only female servant in the estate so I will be assisting you when changing" she smiled and then continued "(Y/N) I have already ran the bath for you, if you'd like to slip in it I can finish here then I can come and assist you, yes I can."
"It's ok I can wash myself, I'll be quick I promise" you walked to the door she gestured to as you spoke.
"Please take your time" was the last thing you heard before you entered the bathroom.
*Time Skip*
"What about this one (Y/N)" Mey-Rin held you a garishly pink dress that made you cringe.
You didn't want to be rude "is there anything less... ummmm... I don't want anything too flashy yet..."
This was the fifth dress you had said no to, all you were currently in was the clothes you had on before, they were dirty but it's all you had to put on. All the dresses you had seen, or could see were proper noble dresses and you hated them. They were always uncomfortable and difficult to move in, not to mention the corsets kept you so straight that you couldn't bend down to pick something up if you dropped it, even as a child you'd hated the noble get up.
The only good thing about these big poofy dresses was that they covered up all the scars you wanted covered, your eyes turned back to the bed looking over all the dresses, you hated to be so fussy but you couldn't stand the thought of being forced into one of these tight torture devices.
"Oh, oh, oh" Mey-Rin jumped around "(Y/N) I have the perfect dress for you... I just have to find it."
She carefully dug through all of the expensive dresses until she finally found what she was looking for "here it's perfect for you, yes it is" she held it up, she was right, it was perfect.
It was a long dress that would comfortably fit over a corset it was tight against the upper half of your body, but then splayed out once it got to your hips but not in an arrogant way. It would perfectly show off your figure. Most importantly it had long sleeves that would cover your arms, not to mention it was a beautiful Phantomhive blue colour, if you had to wear any dress this would be what you would pick.
"You're right it is perfect, I love it" you smiled to her.
She smiled back happy that she had made you happy "now if you don't mind undressing, I can help you into the corset and the dress.
You froze, there was no way you were going to strip in front of her, you weren't body shy in front of her but it was once again the scars that littered your body "ummm it's ok Mey-Rin I can dress myself, if you just want to come in after to check that it looks right."
"Are you sure (Y/N). The reason I'm here is to help you dress, yes, it is" she tilted her head in confusion.
"Yes, it's fine I can manage I'll call you back in once I'm done" you smiled to reassure her.
"Oh okay, please do call me if you need assistance" she nodded and left through the door, not without giving you a quick glance.
*Sebastian's POV*
You walked at a brisk pace towards Miss Phantomhive's room. She was certainly taking her time but that probably wasn't helped by Mey-Rin, that servant was as chatty as they come, and the young master was waiting. However, when you reached her room you frowned.
"Mey-Rin? What are you doing?" You asked stopping beside her.
"Oh Mr Sebastian, the lady said that she would like to dress herself, I haven't been out here for very long" Mey-Rin answered.
"You should have insisted Mey-Rin, a noble lady must always have assistance when changing that's what they have hand maidens for" you stepped past her and knocked on the door "Miss (Y/N) are you ok, would you like some assistance."
"No thank you Sebastian I'm almost dressed" you heard back through the door "If Mey-Rin is still there could you send her in please."
You looked over your shoulder at the maid "Mey-Rin she would like your assistance, next time stay with her the whole time, I trust you won't make this mistake again."
"Of course, Mr Sebastian" Mey-Rin nodded and moved past you quickly to get away from your threat.
"I'll wait here, please do try to be quick the master is waiting for lunch and more importantly, his sister to join him."
