The three rolled up silently outside of a new motel, the assassins that they were following slinking inside their new room. Leta grimaced, staring up at the second story. A giant lump of anxiety had formed in her throat on the way over.
Diego had already placed a tracked under the tail end of the car. They watched as the two closed the blinds.
"Okay. You two, stay here." Leta raised her eyebrow and let out a bark of laughter at Diego.
"You think I'm letting you go up there by yourself, you're out of your damned mind man." Klaus nodded, agreeing with her in all regards.
"You know killing those two isn't going to make you feel better right?" Klaus stroked the neck of the bottle clasped to her chest.
"Yeah, but once I do, I'm gonna sleep like a baby."
"Okay, let's be honest, once those two are dated well all have one of the best sleeps of our lives, but that doesn't mean we're going to let you go by yourself." Leta reached forward and nudged Klaus's shoulder.
"Yeah. They almost killed us, and no offense, we don't want you almost getting killed too."
Diego sighed. He looked at each of them individually, boring his eyes into their soul. "Stay. Here."
Leta blew a stray hair out of her eyes as he exited the car, sneaking towards the stairs.
"We're following him right?" She muttered, glancing over her shoulder at Klaus. He was stretching out his shoulders and scratching an itch on his lower back.
He raised his eyebrows. "Well that was a stupid question." She chuckled, following his lead and silently getting out of the car, following Diego's path towards the stairs. Let crouched over, supporting her weight on his shoulder as they snuck up behind Diego.
"So, what's the plan?" He jumped a bit, death glaring at Klaus. He had a big smile plastered on his face as he looked at his brother.
"I expected better of you." He muttered, looking back at Leta.
She shrugged, twirling one of Klaus's curls around her finger. "What can I say? He's a bad influence." She gestured to Klaus causing his smile to broaden.
"I told you two to stay in the car." He put his fingers to his temple, holding in his frustrations.
"You also told me that if I locked a nine volt battery it would give me pubes!" Klaus exclaimed, tilting his head and taking a swig of alcohol.
Diego screwed up his face and held back his anger. "We were eight!"
Leta snorted, popping Diego in the side of the head. "Rude."
"Get down!" Klaus swung around his arms, shoving Leta and Diego to the ground. Bullets riddled the wall right above their heads, a blue car speeding by with Hazel leaning out the window, machine gun in hands.
"Christ!" Leta shouted, tightening her hands around his arm.
"Oh man, see? You used to think I was an idiot." Klaus pointed his words at Diego who had shoved his way out of his brother's grip.
"I still think you're an idiot." He muttered, rushing over to the railing. "Come on! They're getting away!" The three picked themselves up, rushing towards the car parked behind an ice cream truck. "Come on, get- oh."
"Well shit." Klaus grumbled. The three stared down at the shanked wheels, each completely deflated.
"We're not getting anywhere in that thing." Leta crossed her arms, the thought of Cha-Cha digging her knife into the tires made her ribs hurt.
"Was this all part of your master plan?" Klaus questioned, raising a sarcastic brow at his brother.
"Shut up." Leta laughed at his frustration, perching herself on the edge of the Ice-cream truck.
"So what do we do now?" She wondered out loud. Klaus looked over at her, a sudden grin widening on his cheeks.
Leta chuckled as he began to bounce on his toes. "I've got an idea!"
*~*
'Ride of the Valkyrie's' filled her ears as the three rode down the road, Klaus bounced in his seat as they sped forward, the two assassin's now in sight. Leta laughed, opening up the side door to stick her head out and let her crazy go.
She grinned mischievously as she locked eyes with Five as they sped forward into the pair. And suddenly everything stopped.
Except for herself, a very confused Five, and a woman who stood out in the middle of a field. "Uhhh. What's happening?"
"You've got me. How are you still moving." Five huffed. She quirked her eyebrow, hopping out of the motionless truck.
"Again. What's happening."
"Hello darlings." She turned, the new woman strutting forward. Leta shifted a bit uncomfortably, the bright blond woman grinning at her. "You must be Leta. I have always wanted to meet you." She reached forward, sticking out a hand. Leta nervously obliged, grasping her cold fingers.
"How do you know me?" The woman let out a tinkling laugh, putting her gloved hand to her chest.
"You are the only person in the world, that we know of, of course, who can bypass temporal anomalies. Like this one." She gestured around herself.
"Because of her connection to the interdimentional-consiousness." Five muttered, putting a hand to his chin. Leta awkwardly shifted in the woman's hard gaze.
"Exactly. But that's not why I'm here. Five dear, let's have a chat."
She grabbed Five by the shoulder, shuddering him away from her. Leta let out a sigh, walking towards Hazel and Cha-Cha. She reached up and grabbed both of their guns. They were general issue, so it was simple to dismantle them, throwing the amo away into the field and placing the half dismantled weapons back into their hands.
Leta chuckled to herself, turning and moving towards the ice cream truck. Her chest clenched as she looked at the image.
"Ben!" She charged forward, grabbing at the man plastered to the front of the truck, but her arms went right through him. He wasn't real. But the bullets flying directly at Klaus and Diego were. She reached up, plucking them from the air and pointing them away.
Ben was all grown up, and seemed quite excited to be where he was. She smiled softly, taking in his features. She hadn't seen him in years. "Hey Ben. We all miss you. And after the accident..." she looked up a bit, Klaus's ecstatic visage shining through the windshield. "He was never the same. And even though I know you're always with him, he still misses you. You were his best friend."
She moved away, sitting down on the ground and looking out in the field across from herself. Luther stood frozen next to her, Diego, Klaus and Ben in front of her. Five and the woman were gone.
She sat alone in the silence, knees pinched to her chest. She hated being alone.
And suddenly she wasn't.
The world started swarming around her. Luther launched the briefcase that was clasped in his hand across the way into the field.
He raised his eyebrows, looking down at Leta in surprise. "What the? How did you?" She sprung up, immediately rushing towards the now crashed ice cream truck and yanking open the door. Klaus spilled out, falling on top of her in a heap. Next was Diego who was holding his arm in pain. The three rushed back towards the other car.
"Go go go!" Luther called, directing them all towards the open doors. Leta shove in Klaus, helping Diego after. She then climbed in, slamming shut the door. Hazel was attempting to fire half destroyed weaponry at them, Luther slamming a lead foot down and reversing down the street.
Luther looked back, glancing at the three piled in the seat. "Wait, where's Five?" Leta looked down, Klaus gripping onto her shoulder.
"Long story."
