Cause everybody wants something from me now and I don't wanna let 'em down

Tom's POV

I looked up from my book when I heard the sound of my room door opening.

My younger brothers head peeped through.

My eyes looked back down at my book as I greeted him. "Hey, Sam."

"Hi." He said closing the door behind him. He took a seat on my desk chair and looked at me with a smile.

I looked up at him grinned at him. "What?"

"Tell me about that girl you're always hanging out with."

"You mean Y/n?" I said while putting my book and a smile taking over my face. "Well, what do you want to know?"

"Well for starters, why did she freak out when grandma was talking to her at the get-together a couple weeks ago?"

"Ok listen. She doesn't really do well with people. She's quiet and shy. She gets bullied at school."

"And out of all people you chose her to hang out with because...?"

"Shut up, Sam do you wanna know about her or insult her?" I said.

"Alright sorry, sorry."

There was a bit of silence in the room before Sam asked a question.

"Her favorite color?"

"Grey."

"Her favorite food?"

"She doesn't eat much."

"Her favorite hairstyle?"

"She always wears her hair down." I smiled.

"You sure do a lot of observing, Tom. You answered those questions pretty fast."

"Well I'm with her all the time technically. And you only asked the basics everyone knows the basics about someone."

"Why do you care so much about her?"

"Everyone always needs someone in life. It's not cool to let someone be alone and deal with something that they can't really handle by themselves. You know I was the new kid at school, Sam. Everyone seemed cool but she stuck out to me the most. She was alone and she seemed scared."

"What kind of music does she listen to?"

"Well she likes indie music a lot but she listens to a little bit of every genre but she barely listens rap. She likes the instrumentals of songs more than she like them with lyrics. She likes songs with no words too."

"What does she like about herself?"

"Not a lot. She likes that she knows me, I'd guess."

"Does she like coffee or tea?"

"She thinks tea is very gross."

"Does she have trust issues?"

"Of course she does. It took me months to get her to talk to me regularly."

"What's her favorite ice cream flavor?"

"Vanilla."

"That's plain." Sam scoffed.

"I know." I smiled widely.

"When is she happiest?"

"It depends on if I'm doing something to make her smile."

"How often does she smile."

"Very rarely."

"What's her biggest pet peeve."

"She hates when people asks if she's ok. She's very sensitive."

"What do you think she likes about you?"

"I like to think she likes my hair. I catch staring at it and sometimes she'll smile. But I think she mainly likes that I'm there for her."

"What's her favorite cereal?"

"Why are you asking about the little things, Sam?"

"To see how many little things you know. And to see how much you pay attention to her."

"Sam." I sighed.

"You like her don't you?"

"I don't know yet, Sam. There's a lot that I like about her but I don't know if I like her. I've known her since 7th grade."

"What do you like most about her?" Sam asked.

"Her eyes... you know those sad hurting eyes she has. I know there's something that I can do to make them glow with some bit of happiness."
