A knock at my door wakes me up, I stumble out to open it to see Steve in uniform, "Steve? What's going on?" I ask him still half asleep. "I got accepted." My eyes widen, "you did?" He nods, "that's great." I wasn't going to discourage him, "oh I'm so proud of you." I say wrapping my arms around him. "Stay safe yeah?" He nods, "you know it." I shake my head, "I'm being serious Steve I know you." He sends me a soft smile and nods.
I make sure he eats before he leaves and then I cry knowing that the two boys I loved more than anything were away at risk and there was nothing I could do to help them.

It'd been a few weeks and I felt like I was going mental. I'd done a few shows, my agent saying I had to because I needed to boost the mood of the public, since everyone was depressed about the war. I was depressed about the war myself, as much as I loved singing I just didn't want to do it right now. I felt like I should be doing something useful like nursing.
I had trained to be a nurse years ago, I didn't want to be just a housewife and nursing was one of the few jobs that women were allowed so that's what I was originally going to be.

I decided to apply to become a nurse but before I could I got a letter from my brother saying that he was here in Brooklyn and needed me.
"Dean. I've not seen you in forever." I grin pulling him into a hug before we take our seats across from each other at the diner. "What did you need?" I ask him, "I have a job proposition for you." I look at him confused, "I already have a job." He nods, "yeah I know and that's great but this is something great." My eyebrows furrow, "what kinda job." I asked leaning forward.
"Ok, well I work for the SSR." He starts off, "the what?" He gives me a look, "I'm sorry." He nods, "the SSR is the strategic scientific reserve, it's top secret." He tells me in a low tone, "so why are we discussing it in public?" He ignores me and continues. "Anyways this would be a temporary job unless you wanted it to be permanent." I look to him confused, "you still haven't even told me what this job is." He nods before looking around, "yeah maybe we should go back to your place." He says standing, "but my food." I complain as I follow after him.
"Ok so tell me then." I shrug sitting down in my seat, he explains the whole purpose of the ssr and I just sit and look at him dumbstruck, "so you want me to be like a spy?" He shrugs, "I guess you could phrase it like that." Was he being serious? I start laughing my laughter stops as I look up to see him smiling thi my at me. Oh so he was being serious, "what you don't believe me?" I shake my head, "of course I believe you but why me?" I ask completely and utterly confused, what did I have to be an agent?
"Why not you, you're smart, very skilled and you have good combat." I shake my head in disbelief, "I don't know Dean..." I say unsurely, "come on Rosalie, you don't how hard I had to beg to convince colonel Phillips that you'd be a good fit. You're perfect." I think it over, "but what would I even have to do?" He smiles thinking I'm about to accept, "not much help out, Peggy will tell you what to do, I spend most time with doctor Erskine so that's probably it. Or you may have to help Stark out." He tells me simply. "Stark?" He nods, "yes Howard Stark your rumoured lover." He smirks as I scoff and throw a pillow at him, "he's not my lover." I huff as he laughs, "I know that but that's what the papers were saying."
"Shut up." I roll my eyes as he continues laughing. "So will you do it?" I think it over and shrug, "Sure." He beams and pulls me out of my seat, "this will be great, but just to warn you, the colonel is already on the fence about you so don't to anything to mess this up or he'll have both our heads." I nod slightly afraid now.
"Okay, I won't." I tell him seriously, "great we leave tomorrow." He says making my eyes widen, "tomorrow?" I echo, "I did just say that, did I not?" I roll my eyes at him again, he was so irritating sometimes.

"Are you not going to visit father?" I ask Dean knowing we were leaving soon and he hadn't so much as thought of the man. "No why would I?" He scoffs making me look at him, "because he's our father." I murmur making him scoff again, "When did that miserable old man do anything for us, if I go see him you know how he'll act like I'm some great disappointment." He tells me bitterly, Father and Dean had never really got on, they clashed a lot, when we were younger Dean would try anything and everything to please father but it was never enough and so he stopped trying and then eventually stopped caring.
"Dean he's different now, I'm sure he'd be pleased to see you, he told me that he regrets how he treated you and would love to make amends." He gives me look signalling that I drop it, "it's too late for that. I'm better off without him in my life and you would be too." I want to say something but I don't, it's useless Dean was just as stubborn as Steve, neither would change their minds once it was made up. So instead I nod and keep my mouth shut.
