Oh frick--
They released the english trailer for Cells at Work!!(Yes that is indeed the name of the 2nd season. Pretty sure they'll add a 3rd exclamation point) and its lookin good
I actually saw another season 2 trailer earlier this year and it was suppose to come out this year. But ya know, COVID and stuff happened
But yay now I can understand the names of the new cells and pathogens here
Its obvious that this trailer focuses alot on the skin, since it starts with the skin being irrated by something and an inflammatory response soon happening(I would know the feeling, I get that way too many times. My skin is irrated by everything and I constantly have to take Antihistamines unless I want to be itchy 24/7 and making it impossible to sleep. I f*cking sucks), but also with a debut of a new cell, the Langerhans Cells(fancy). From the 30 seconds of reaserch I did, the Langerhans Cell is basically a type of Dentritic Cell that resides in the skin. They're also present in all layers of epidermis, or the outermost layer of skin(or at least the part under the dead part of epidermis. Yes, look at your arms, all you're seeing are dead skin skin cells). So that most likely means the first few episodes(or one of the first few) will focus mainly on the skin and debut a few skin cells and what it looks like in this world
But also theres this one scene showing blood being taken from the body, perhaps a blood test due to the Virus...Okay, now let's talk about the pathogens here
I kinda fangirled both in good and bad way for the first one. The Dengue Virus. Oh boy...
You probably already know this cuz I say this alot of times, but I live in the Philippines and oh boy are we familiar with this b*tch of a virus. For those who aren't familiar, Dengue, like Malaria, is a mosquito-borne virus and causes Dengue fever, and mainly affects tropical and sub-tropical regions. Like other mosquito-borne diseases alot of people die from it around the during the summer(or rather more accurately dry) months. Heck, last or last last summer a student from one of the schools in our city died from in, my close cousin went through it around 2 years ago, became hospitalized, and had to take blood tests like every hour from each finger. It was not fun basically. So you would understand why I'm kinda excited to see what the Dengue Virus would be like in this world.Speaking of which can I say I love how in this world, Viruses aren't people but stuff. The Flu Virus was floating orb things that latched onto healthy cells, here it seems the Dengue Virus are tengu masks.
I mean like, thats what viruses basically are, they're not complex like cells or bateria, they're just proteins incased in fat. Their only instinct is to make copies of itself by tricking other cells to produce them. So sorry to everyone who made COVID-19 characters for this world, they're just not how viruses work here lolNext pathogen, Helicobacter Pylori, or H. Pylori. Helicobacter Pylori can enter your digestive tract and after many years, they can cause ulcers in your stomach or the uppeer part of your small intestine. For some people, this can even lead to stomach cancer, not so good. This is probably what WBC meant by "He finally got out of the acid", it's stomach he's talking about and the guy is probably peaking through an ulcer or something
Also btw its named Helicobacter Pylori because its a helical-shaped bateria, but I still find it funny and clever how the creator put helicopter blades on his guy(like what they did with Staphylococcus Aureus, its name literally talks about its grape-like formation and Aureus means gold. Clever)
