I was watching Overly Sarcastic Production's latest vid Trope Talk: Immortality and I FINALLY found someone that pointed out my favorite type of immortality
Right now I'm just like-- y e s
I was just waiting for Red to bring this type of immortality up, immortals who were never humans to begin with and watch humanity from an outside lens(because all the examples she bought up were types of immortals who were at first humans)
The reason why I want to bring this up, but if you read this update I posted about my Season OCs, its clear that they aren't humans
(Here it is so you can just read it here)
So like... I guess this is what each of my Season Personifications think of humanity
Spring- Finds their progress, skill, and artistic mastery beautiful and one of a kind. Though he knows humans can be... not so good at times, he's sure that they can pull through any situation
Summer- Likes their spirit and determination, and how they purposfully throw themselves into dangerous situations for fun. Just like Spring, she's sure that humans can face almost any problem in their way
Autumn- Direct opposite of the previous 2, the pessimist of the group. He focuses on the fagility of humanity and despite how far they've come, most of that progress was made with dark stains. He also hates how they've destroyed countless wild areas for their 'progress' and are basically setting the world out of order.
(basically Spring's and Autumn's views on humanity is this song https://youtu.be/B0FIzeiR-hw )Winter- His view on humans aren't quite as clear as the others, however he leans more towards the positive side. Perhaps he likes the fact humans today no longer view him as a villain like in the past. Though like Spring and Summer, he's impressed by their progress, but like Autumn, has a slight distaste of them destroying the world for themselves(but still recognizes the fact they're trying to combat this)
Note: All of them actually share this distaste for humanity, but Spring is very hopeful that they'll find a way to fix everything
"They've always found a way"
Summer isn't too worried(its probably that voice in the back of her head...)
And we know what Autumn and Winter thinkAlso I partly fangirled at this comment cuz... you know... Good Omens, but not by much. Idk if it's obvious or not but I actually based my Seasons OCs off Crowley and Aziraphale, except maybe a little more impressed and disgusted by them as these guys are much older than the angel and demon duo. Much older than 6000 years. No probably millenia or even megaanna years older. To them, human history is very short, which impresses them even more on how much they've changed the world(for both better and worse)
If you watched OSP's vid(watch it tho its good) you know that to immortals, there is no finish line, no motivation to do the things you do. I guess for my OCs, they know they're immortal, but they also know they will die someday. They are literal beings of nature and fully understand that everything dies, so perhaps maybe they will too.
Idk really, and all of this was sparked by a lone comment
Also alot of other people pointed out other types of immortality that Red didn't mention, like the type of immortality that keeps the person's health bar the same as when they first became immortal(like when a person has a cough when they become immortal, they stay like that forever) or the optimistic immortal, like "aw I missed [historical event] and didn't try out [dance] while ot was still in style, so I'll try my best to not miss anything now!"
Also also this is literally part 198 of this book, one more part and then closing remarks(also also also I'll probably repost this on the 2nd book once its out)
If you want to be tagged in the 2nd book so you know exactly when its out, just ask
Sooo... yeah... k bai-
