Not Just A Fan

Chapter 9

Drew had everyone in the lounge area ready to hear the new track he'd written called "Breathing Space", Ester sat next to Myles and can see in the corner of her eye Naomi tapping away on her phone.

'I'm going to release this as my new single next week.' He tells them, and pushes play on the soundboard.

Ester felt delighted that she was going to be one of the first people to hear it. The track softly came in, the techno synth starts, this is a new approach he was putting into this music, and she had a mixed feeling towards it, she then heard his vocals and the synth behind it started to get softer, in between him singing the backing vocals came in. When the chorus kicked in, it had a strong impact and allured Ester in, and she can sense the atmosphere the crowd it's going to bring. She tried hard to give away on how much she loved the new track she had to be professional. Drew watched her a few times to see if she'll react but played a good poker face.

'Sick man.' Myles says after the track finishes.

'Come, let's get to it.' Drew instructs and get the band practice the new track a few times.

When he was finally satisfied, he wanted them to work with another song.

'I've started one I need to have it recorded in time for next week as I want this for my EP I'm thinking of doing. During the week we will do the songs for the tour, and on Sundays we will run through my new tracks for my EP, understood?' They all nod to agree, Drew sends them to the tablets they each have by their instruments and sees the new score sheet called "Into Heaven". 'This is more of a piano piece, so Ester, you think you could help?' She looks at him, and it's the first time that she ever saw some emotion in his eyes and felt it quite intriguing.

'Sure.'

'You see the lyrics next to it, in yellow. I want you to sing for a moment, ok?' Ester then started to feel frightened, to sing with him again but with everyone else watching, she nodded.

Ester concentres on the score sheet in front of her than anyone else in the room and plays on keyboard steadily reading each note, Drew begins to sing.

I lost the war, I lost my rights,

Ester signs the next line

Gave up my guard, gave up my life,

Drew goes again

All hail for one,

And they go in together,

All hail I rise,

With the next verse, Ester starts then Drew following with the next line.

Set me free,

And see your life passing by,

Leaving me,

And I'll say goodbye.

Ester starts again and Drew sings after to the chorus and the drums come in.
