Not Just A Fan

Chapter 32

'I don't know, not keen on it.' he says,

'It's only a night out, what harm is there?' Ester says,

'I won't be able to protect you.'

'I'm a big girl, I'll be ok. Besides it's a club and I've been there before, it's pretty secure there.'

Drew twiddles his fingers into her sleek shiny lilac hair, as she lies on top of him on the sofa in the studio. 'My friends will be there too, we don't go crazy on the booze.' He nods in the end agreeing with her, and looks away staring at nothing. Ester noticed how distant he has been with her and wonders if she should question it, the excitement of making her music made it a bit harder today.

'You ok? You seem to be somewhere else.' she asks,

'No, I'm good. I haven't toured in years, and this one is going to be different.' he responds.

'How so?'

'A new band, a new crew...'

'And no Lucy?' she says slightly annoyed, he shifted a little bit,

'Is it that obvious?' his eyes draw sadness in.

'A little...I didn't mean to react like that -'

'It's okay, I get it. Another reason it'll be different too....because I have you.' her face showed she had some doubt, 'I mean it Ester, I didn't believe I could fall in love again or had any reason to live. I think I'm still healing, but I know she's not coming back and I'm not expecting you replace her. What you are doing is making me live my life, just like how I should.' Drew lays his hands on her cheeks, 'When I told you I loved you the other night, I fucking meant it.'

'I know, I meant it too.'

He thinks letting it out to hear would be a way of healing, but it almost seems to be getting under Esters skin than she wanted it to be. What annoyed her more is that she never was thought first, always after Lucy.

Drew decides to give Ester the Saturday off to spend it with her friends, and might give him the chance to breathe a bit on what he is feeling right now and speculating on what to do with everything.

She had an update from Katie that the girls from school will be meeting them at the club, Ester checked her phone and had a message from Drew telling her to be safe and took it as a sweet gesture.
