Their date had concluded: they had spent time together, learned what they could, and even had two meals and a movie. It was as the fox had imagined it to be, though somewhat less magical, of course. Still, he enjoyed himself, and he hoped the wolf did, as well.

It was dark when they finished dinner and they headed back toward the wolf's house. Most of the way was lit well enough by streetlights that had barely just begun to flicker on, but near the park, it was a little darker, enough that when they looked up, they could see some stars and a waning gibbous.

They noticed a few others walking about just like they were, though obviously, their destination was not the same. Still, it made their trek seem a bit more normal than what Roger had originally considered it. All the same, the other pedestrians were more normal than they were: at least they had one of each gender.

When Roger noticed that they were alone, near the house, he reached over and grabbed Hunter's paw and held it in his own. The wolf gave him a puzzled look, as if attempting to identify just what the problem was that he needed to bring his attention to, but after noticing the fox's smile, he returned it, squeezing the fox's paw.

They continued walking like this until arriving at the wolf's house, where they once again became separate. Hunter fumbled about with his keys, squinting in the poor lighting. Usually, light in the front was on, but he was usually the one that turned it on. It was possible that his family merely forgot or had not wanted to exert the effort.

They entered the house and the little brother greeted them from his room. He had been playing video games, and he mentioned that their mother was away shopping, hence the dark house. It was inconsequential, though.

They retreated to the wolf's room and got comfortable, sitting next to each other on the bed as they usually had done. Roger softly asked, "How was it?"

Hunter smiled at him and responded, "It was nice."

The fox put his head against the wolf's shoulder. "Would... would you want to do it again?"

"Okay," the wolf said. He pressed his nose against the fox's forehead and kept it there.

Roger blushed. "Then I guess we're, uh, dating?"

He could feel the wolf nodded. "I think so," Hunter had said in response after a moment. "What else do we do if we're dating, though?"

Roger thought about it, but could not come up with anything he found appropriate, though thoughts did pervade his mind. He said, "I'm not really sure. This is the first time I've really... ever dated someone. I think we just keep doing what we did today until we know each other well enough."

The wolf protested, "But we already know each other a lot. What do we do after that?"

He had to agree, as the wolf did have a point. It was difficult for them to find much to ask each other, or even learn about one another since they had already known so much. He shrugged and said, "Well, after that, after you know me and I know you, and if we like each other enough, we can, uh... we can be boyfriends if we both want."

The wolf asked, "Is that something you want?"

Roger hesitated and blushed, and then said, "Y-yeah, but... I want to make sure it's something you want, as well. I know you said you like me, and that you love me, but... we need to give it a little bit of time to see if those feelings stay and are real."

Hunter nodded and laid back. "Okay," he said. He pulled the fox to him and held him in a hug. "And if we become boyfriends, what then?"

"I'm... I'm not too sure," the fox said. "We... well, when... a girl and boy are boyfriend and girlfriend, not respectively, of course, they... just belong to each other, I guess. They hug and kiss and cuddle, kind of... I guess kind of like how we do now. And uh... some of them do other things, but that's, well...

"I mean, they shouldn't, really, not until they're married or something if they believe in that, but if they don't, or don't really want to adhere to it, or... I don't know." He searched for the right words, but they did not come. He searched himself for the purpose of him even bringing it up, and he felt a bit guilty.

Hunter shrugged, though, and said, "What do they do? Maybe that's what we should do if everything else is done?"

Roger blushed furiously and he stammered, "W-w-well, I mean, we... we have to take it slow. N-not that I don't want to, but, heh, you... uh, I mean you should figure out what it is first, right? Before doing it, and... I don't want you to do something that you'd regret."

The wolf looked at him, confused.

Roger took a deep breath and said, "Well, when... when they're ready, or they think they are, they... have sex and stuff. Sometimes, though, even after all that they've felt, those feelings go away, and then someone regrets ever having done it because there's only one first time, and it's... it's something you share with someone special, or so I understand it. So... we just... take it slow."

Hunter nodded and bent forward to lick the fox's cheek. "Okay," he said, and a smile accompanied his response.

Roger closed his eyes and sighed, resting his head on the wolf's chest.

He ran his paw across the wolf's abdomen and inhaled deeply, and the same urges popped into his head. He attempted to discard them, but for that moment he wanted almost desperately to drag his paw downward, to finally gain the knowledge that he had wanted, to finally feel something a bit more intimate.

He refrained, though. He could feel his desires beginning to manifest in his own body, but he did not move, for if he did, it would raise suspicion. Instead, he just let them be and enjoyed his time with the wolf. Perhaps later, he thought to himself. Perhaps when they were closer.

"What should we do?" the wolf asked.

Roger looked up at him. "What do you mean?"

"To take it slow, I guess," Hunter responded.

Roger bit his lip, and before he could stop himself, he said, "Well, I have a couple of ideas." He held his breath and hoped the wolf would not catch it and that it would just slip by unnoticed.

If there was ever anything wrong with the wolf, though, it was not his hearing.
