"D-dad?" Natsu sobbed, standing in front of Igneel's lifeless body. "Come on. Get up." He shook his dad's arm and tried to open his eyes. But they were cloudy and glossed over. "N-no you promised to tell me everything!"
He cried and sank down to his knees. "I spent my whole life trying to find you and now-"
He was cut off by his violent shaking and crying, and buried his head into the crook of his dead father's neck.
To the side, stood Lucy and Gray. "So everyone's losing their fathers today huh?" Gray frowned, his eyes somewhat bloodshot.
Lucy nodded but soon made her way over to her partner, kneeling down beside him. "Natsu..."
The pink haired mage clutched onto his scarf and looked at lucy with red, swollen eyes. "I couldn't save him..."
Lucy made a reassuring smile, though her eyes were starting to tear up. "But you saved us though."
"I've been looking for him my whole life..." He whispered and took off Igneel's scarf, looking at it intently. "I don't know what I'm supposed to do now... I can't believe he's actually... Gone for real." He sobbed.
This made Lucy crack. Seeing such a strong guy like Natsu, so very fragile.
So she scooted over and hugged him in a tight embrace. He quickly wrapped his arms around her, clutching the scarf behind her back and burying his face in her shoulder.
Suddenly there was a warmth surrounding Lucy's neck. She hesitantly looked down to see that Natsu had wrapped his favorite garment around her.
"Natsu you don't-"
"It's to keep you safe." He said, wiping away his tears. "It kept me safe."
Lucy was full on crying now, her tears falling onto Igneel's claw.
Natsu panicked slightly at her tears. But he wiped them off her cheeks quickly. "If you were to die. I wouldn't be able to live with myself. If I can't fight for my father anymore... I'm gonna fight for you."
"Thank you, Natsu..."
Natsu let his own tears fall down his face. Then, slowly he leaned forward and pressed his lips against Lucy's.
"You are mine." He said. "And I will live for you."
