Devon Tremain

Devon Tremain- English/German ancestry; Devon is a sweet, warmhearted, genuine boy who is described as wholesome and having a sunny, bright disposition. He is Emma's and Connor's uncle from their mother's side and is slightly older than the twins at age 17. While he can sometimes appear to be on edge, he is always well-meaning in the end and tends to have have a very strong moral center. Tactful and considerate, he chooses to be careful with his words and has an even-tempered demeanor. Devon is one of the more sympathetic male students at the school and tries to judge others for their inner beauty, appreciating Shelby Doherty for her kindliness and refusing to judge her for her looks or lack of self-confidence. He is considered to be very lively, outgoing, and positive, with vibrant hazel eyes that appear "more green than brown" and a celestial nose. His tousled golden blonde hair matches his heart of gold, and often goes out of his way to greet everyone around him with a refreshing smile. He likes to be inclusive of everybody and is a natural born leader, serving as the president for the student council and working as a peer mentor on campus to help other students. Devon plays golf for the high school and is also the captain of the school's tennis team, as well as the head of the yearbook staff. He also likes engaging in community service periodically in order to help out around the neighborhood. He briefly got a job at the mall over the holiday season to help pay off a credit card bill, during which he played an elf at the Winter Wonderland set up. He is understanding of others and their differences and is honest and straightforward in his actions, as he never forgets to remind others of his appreciation for what they do.

Devon is a kind and responsible boy who is very organized and supportive of others, as he has a reputation at his for being the "safe kid" due to avoiding danger and being cautious. He sometimes insists that he is a "misunderstood bad boy" and lives for danger however, even if he prefers keeping his possessions neat and orderly. He is smart and gets good grades in his trigonometry and Latin courses, in addition to being the archetype of the nonconformist, preferring to be different from everybody else and follow his own path. He is apparently a fan of Ben Affleck and likes the color Prussian blue, and he is also shown to play the drums for the school band. Devon is always loyal to his friends, and his quick thinking often gets them out of trouble, yet he does not understand all the "girly" stuff that his sister does. He is considered to be sarcastic, caring and intelligent and can be goofy and witty, with his having come up with a web-zine. He was promoted to being the school's hallway monitor at one point and still sleeps with a teddy bear that he has named Woger. He also has an aunt who gave him a metal detector for his birthday and suggests that he may have a different aunt who lives in Hoboken, New Jersey. Devon is intrigued by Shelby's love of the color black and aura of aloofness, as well as her fascination with murder mystery novels. He is slightly curious about 1950s culture, with a grandfather named Alphonse whom still appears to own and drive an Oldsmobile vehicle. He mentions that he has seen Kiss of Death and Shark in the Dark 2 and tries to impress her by saying he has excellent hand-eye coordination, as evidenced by his agility with unicycles. 

In response, she states that her favorite afternoon pick-me-up is a honeydew melon smoothie, and that eggs benedict is one of her favorite foods. Devon is a strong believer in female empowerment as well and aims to treat every female her encounters with decency, respect, and equality. He is a strong advocate for women's rights and abhors men who take advantage of a young female's vulnerability and innocence. Well-aware of the struggles his older sister Samantha encountered during her turbulent encounters with men in her earlier years, he tries to treat young women with courtesy and has an old-fashioned chivalry about his demeanor. Like Shelby, who grew attached to and developed feelings for him due to his kindness towards her, he also loves cats, owning a sphynx cat named Josie due to his allergic reaction to pet dander. Devon enjoys books and the concept of "hygge", preferring the historical fiction and adventure genres, although he considers Calvin and Hobbes to be among his childhood favorites. He is fond of Fahrenheit 51 and has watched multiple episodes of Deal or no Deal, as well as an animated show called BoJack Horseman. He aspires to be a licensed clinical social worker to serve his community and help those who are struggling or in need of guidance. He often refines himself in self-improvement in nearly every course of action he takes as well, revealing somewhat of a perfectionistic side as he studies himself and others regularly and searches for new opportunities for self-growth. The face Devon shows to the world is one of sunshine, happiness and good will towards others, which makes him a master at making people feel good all over. Despite his seemingly confident, unperturbed demeanor, he suffers from bouts of low self-esteem however that can lead him to be noticeably hard on himself.
