Sledgehammer

SCENE 1:

On a bench in the park.

        GUY: So, there's been something that's been bugging me these past few days. Months actually.

Run his fingers through his own hair and averts his gaze to something else except her. Is hunched over.

        GIRL: If it's been bugging you for months, it must be important. So what's it?

Looks at him through the corners of her eyes.

        GUY: It is important, to me but maybe not her.

      GIRL: I know you really well, Alastor. Don't think I'll let you off after you tell me this and leave a cliffhanger.

      GUY: Alright, since you insist and I know you'll figure out eventually. Better you hear it from me than someone else.

Takes a deep breath.

        GUY: There's this amazing girl I've known for a long time and I wouldn't thought I would end up liking her but I did. I don't just like this girl, I'm in love with her. My heart beats for her and every breath I take is also for her. You can put thousands of miles between me and her but it would only result in my love for her growing stronger.

Looks at her with love in his eyes.

        GUY: I try to hide it but I would always fail. If you can take my pulse right now it would feel like a sledgehammer or hear my heart beat and it'll hit you like a sledgehammer. That's because that particular person is sitting here with me, watching the sun set fill the sky with different colours. The person whom I love a lot no matter how hard I try to deny it.

She's speechless.

        GIRL: Alastor...that is the most wonderful thing someone ever said to me. How can I not like a guy like you? A guy who declares his love in such a beautiful manner that is uncommon these days. I'll be a fool to miss out this opportunity. To be honest, I was waiting for you to admit it.

Now, it's his turn to be speechless.

        GUY: You didn't reject me? After how many guys you've reject, you didn't reject me?

        GIRL: Only a fool would do that.

She chuckles lightly and punches him in the shoulder.

        GUY: I'm so happy I could kiss you. 

        GIRL: Don't steal Kristoff lines, make up your own. (says in a joking manner)

        GUY: Honestly, can I? Kiss you, I mean.

        GIRL: Haven't you not learn that when it comes to you I'll somehow give in to you?

        GUY: Just checking. Wouldn't want to ruin the moment yeah, Elizabeth?

Kisses her.

SCENE 2: (2 YEARS LATER)

        GIRL: Do you still love me, Alastor?

       GUY:  How many freaking times do you want to ask? Yes! It's always going to be a bloody yes                      so stop asking.

        GIRL: I'm sorry. I won't ask anymore.

        GUY: Oh gosh, Liz. You aren't upset because of that, right? You've got to be kidding me.

Stops playing and paces around, looking frustrated.

        GIRL: I'm sorry, I-I'll just leave. 

        GUY: Argh! What's wrong with you? Is your period coming that's why you're overreacting?

Stops pacing around.

        GUY: We should break up.

Doesn't act surprised.         

        GIRL: I'm not surprised. You don't love me anymore, I knew it. T-that's why you've been playing your video games more often a-and ignoring my texts and calls.

      GUY: Oh, I do love you. Only when you don't act like this. If I knew you would be like this, I would've dated you. You're amazing when you're in a good mood. When you're in a bad mood, you act all bitchy and overprotective, fussing over small matters and asking me annoying questions.

        GIRL:  I don't care anymore. You can take care of your own self.

Throws a throw pillow at him and leaves the room.

        GUY: I take my words back, you're the worst girl I've encountered!

NARRATOR: And this is life, ladies and gentlemen.
