Ukai blinked several times as if he couldn't believe what was in front of him. 'This is the Magician?' he thought. He imagined the boy to be more intense and less adorable. 'Puppy?' the word popped up in his mind as he stared at big sparkling purples eyes that were staring at him.
"M-mo-Momoi-kun," Takeda sweatdropped at his student, who wanted to play alongside his team.
"Oi, Daichi," Sugawara whispered. "Do you want to play with or against us?" he questioned. Two of the three third-year players were playing together. They haven't played in a while, and the setter was wondering why the captain hasn't said anything.
Daichi's eyes shifted at the overgrown puppy that Ukai was unconsciously patting. "Suga," he trailed off.
The setter nodded and grinned at him, understanding Daichi's thoughts. He slapped the captain's back and shouted, "Oi! Sora! I want to set for you!" 'Might as well savor the moment,' Sugawara smiled to himself.
"Kuh," Kageyama's eyes sharpened. He wanted to say something, but a glare from the captain and Tanaka stopped him. They were finally getting the match they wanted.
"I can switch you with Uchizawa or Shimada from time to time," Ukai gave in, ruffling the tall boy's soft pink hair. "So, stay and sit. Rollove-," he cleared his throat and turning his back at the boy. "Let's start!"
[Practice Match Start!]
Sora bit his lip, watching the ball go back and forth the court. A few minutes have passed already, and he wanted to play in the court. Ukai nervously ignored the pleading stare that thrown at him from time to time.
The pink-haired wing spiker missed a few dramatic dialogues, but he grinned when Noya called Asahi by his title, Ace. There was something that pinched his heart as he fondly recalled the bittersweet memories he had in the Shiratorizawa Academy. He shook his head, trying to erase the thoughts in his mind. Sora forced his shoulders to relax, and the air around him grew colder. He watched Asahi's powerful strike and Hinata's quick attack carefully, nodding at their realization and improvements. Unbeknown to him, a little part of his past self was returning. A part him that he wanted to erase.
Soft hands combing his hair from behind stopped him from completely submerging in the depth of his past self. "You should cut your hair soon," Ennoshita commented innocently, trying to tie Sora's bangs together. The pink-haired silently looked up at him.
"What?" Ennoshita questioned.
"Nothing," Sora smiled.
"Oi! Stop flirting over there and come over!" Ukai shouted, finally deciding to put Sora in.
'Just right in time,' The Magician thought.
The moment he stepped in, Ukai saw the change in the atmosphere. 'If Kageyama was a setter prodigy, this boy was a wing spiker genius,' he watched the calculating eyes scan the people within the court. He couldn't hear the mutterings of the Karasuno Neighborhood Association and others, from their reactions, the boy said something astonishing.
Kageyama watched the pink-haired wing spiker. He felt like he was in junior high again. 'Those eyes,' he exhaled as he watched the other team's atmosphere shift. 'He's doing it again. He's picking our weaknesses.'
"Eh?' Hinata let out, confused about the subtle change in the environment. He was sure they would win the set with the quick and powerful spikes from their end. Tanaka's grin widened as he felt the hair in his body stand up. Tsukishima's frown deepened, the small moment in the practice game against Seijoh flashed in his mind.
