"So this is it."

The raggedy man, you now knew as Aizawa Shota, announced as he flipped the light switch illuminating his apartment in a yellow glow. You scanned your eyes across the living room, taking in the leather two seater sofa, the dusty bookcase and the television that sat in the corner, that you could tell was barely used.

'Home, sweet home, huh?' You thought bitterly, tightening your grip on your duffle bag as displeasure settled throughout your body, your mind replaying the events that led you to this situation.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You squinted, taking in the small creature that sat before you, it's beady black eyes stared right back with a kind smile on his face, causing your scowl to deepen. Although what stood out most about the strange bear... mouse... thing was the scar over his right eye that contrasted against it's spotless white fur(?). Honestly, you didn't know what to make of the little fuzzball in front of you, you had no idea why he was here but there was a sinking feeling forming in your gut.
"Well hello, (L:N). How are you on this fine evening?" He asked politely and cheerfully, hoping to lighten the mood in the room.
"Amazing, you know the lack of windows in this room really lets me take in the beautiful late night spring sky." Your handcuffed hands motioned to the room as a spiteful smile made an appearance on your face.
Despite your attitude the white rat chuckled and continued speaking. "My name's Nezu, I'm the principal at U.A."
'Oh, now him being here makes sense, but who on earth is the homeless mummy in the corner?' Your eyes flickered to the man leaning against the wall with his hands stuffed in his pockets, his bloodshot orbs meeting yours.
"So what brings you to my humble l'abode, Nezu?" You started leaning back, your tone indicated a deep lack of respect as you looked at him with nothing but contempt.
"Well, given the criminal history you've confessed to you're looking at quite a lengthy bit of jail time-"
"Yup. Can't wait."
"But, I could offer you an alternative." He took your silence as his cue to continue. "Come to our school, learn how to be hero, turn your life around!" He finished enthusiastically, clasping his hands together.
"So... it's either prison or hero school?"
"Yes, so I think the answer is obvious."
"So do I, which prison do you reckon they'll send me to? What do you think my cell mate is going to be like? Because personally-"
"Is everything a joke to you?" The man from the corner finally spoke up, voice firm, irritation lacing his words.
"No, only the hero industry." They could tell you were both being truthful and challenging them. There was a fierceness in your eyes that contradicted your nonchalant tone and posture. As much as you didn't want to lose your composure, the thought of being around heroes made you sick to your stomach.
If Nezu was dissatisfied with your retort he didn't show it. "You know (L:N), you should really think this through, I can see that you're not exactly fond of heroes-"
"That's an understatement"
"And I understand why-"
"Do you? Or are you just saying that to make yourself appear empathetic so that I trust you?" At this point your patience was running thin, you couldn't even begin to fathom why they'd invite you to attend their school. Also, just the thought of being surrounded by heroes in training made you want to bang your head against the table.
"We aren't trying to trick you," the man with long black hair took a seat beside Nezu, you could just tell that he didn't quite like the idea of you going to the school. "You know, if you go to prison you won't be able to hear if there are updates about Eri but, if you were to choose to attend U.A you'd be able to keep up to date."
'Damn it..!' Your jaw clenched and you averted your glare to the one way mirror behind the two in front of you. As much as you don't trust heroes, you were beginning to consider the deal. Your mind drifted to Eri, to her eyes that for some reason always seemed to glisten with tears, to how as each day passed the smile she gave you seemed to diminish.
"If I agree... will you guarantee that I'll be able to see her again once she's been rescued?" For the first time since they met you, the two educators saw a flash of vulnerability run through your eyes so quickly that they almost weren't sure that it had been there in the first place.
"Yes."
"...Fine." You mumbled, thoughts of U.A flooded your mind. You remembered your parents and how they wanted you to attend U.A, the things they did to prepare you for U.A, the sick feeling in your stomach grew stronger with each second.
They continued to discuss the details with you. You were to stay with Aizawa during your time at the school and he will assess your behaviour until Sunday night to see if you're ready to be introduced to the class. It all sounded rather tedious to you but if this is what it took to see Eri safe and sound, you'd bear with it.
"Well (L:N), we look forward to having you attend the school!"
As the man and the bear made their way to exit the room they were halted by a humourless chuckle.
"You know, my parents always wanted me to go to U.A but, due to their treatment of me, I hated the idea of attending. Now, despite the fact that my life strayed as far as it could away from what they planned, I'm ending up there anyway."
"Must be fate!" The bear replied, a knowing tone to his voice.
"I don't believe in fate."
"You'll be sleeping in the guest bedroom, I'll show you the way." He tiredly walked through the hallway that connected to the living room. You could see that decorations weren't a priority to him, since the rest of the apartment was as bland as the living room.
As soon as you entered your new bedroom, you dumped the duffle bag of your belongings onto the floor and flopped onto the twin sized bed. You raised your hand to the ceiling, reaching for nothing in particular, as your thoughts continued to swirl. The emotions you always held inside didn't halt their nonstop churning as you took a deep breath to try and quell your nervousness.
As backwards as it seems you just could never bring yourself to feel safe around heroes. 'They're all greedy, power hungry pricks anyway.' You sighed, rising to your feet and grabbing your bag, 'may as well unpack now I guess... this is going to be a long three years.'
