Freezing.
That's how you felt because Todoroki took it upon himself to freeze everyone in that damn entrance. Luckily enough for you it takes a lot more than a bit of ice to stop you. You sent out shards of the special material your wings are made from out of your feet, effectively shattering the ice around your feet. There had never been an official name given to the material but you liked to call it Anoddium (pronounced ahnotheeum). Sure it wasn't a creative name given how you just stuck -ium on the end of the Welsh word for tough; anodd, but who cares? Not you.
You then created small spikes on the bottom of your trainers to grip the ice and began to run. Most of your class managed to dodge the ice attack along with students from other classes. You watched as Mineta jumped from ball to ball and overtook Todoroki before getting smacked aside by a giant robot. That's what the other students faced in the entrance exam, huh?
You were jogging up to the robots as Todoroki froze the largest one and ran under it's legs. You were about follow suit when it toppled over. 'That slick bastard. He froze it while it was unstable!' You took the chance while everyone stood still in shock to jump onto the heap of metallic parts and jogged on. If you had to travel four kilometres you were not going to run the entire way, you didn't hate yourself enough.
As you ran, robot after robot charged at you to which you just flicked your hands so that Diamond rose out of the ground and shot through them. You could create normal allotropes of carbon anywhere as long as they come off of something. However, the Anoddium has to come from either you, your wings or your clothes and shoes.
Currently you were in a solid tenth place despite your slow running pace. You just stared at the ground as you continued forward zoning out not registering the drop before you in the next section of the race. So as one might predict you ran off the ledge. Your clothes flapped uncontrollably as you fell, the air rushed past your face creating a howling whistle in your ears.
You quickly created a thick platform that stuck out from the side of the cliff and slammed down onto it, face first. You groaned and place your hands against the crystalline platform, pushing yourself up, 'Great.' You took in your current predicament, colossal pillars of earth filled your vision with ropes connecting them. You observed as students crossed the ropes in their own unique ways, which seemed like more work than you'd be willing to exert.
Instead you extended your platform and ran across it, you readjusted the direction of the platform, that was quickly becoming a bridge, when a new column of dirt appeared in front of you. At one point some girl with pink hair and a bunch of gadgets swung right by your head, you had let out a rather loud curse at her seen as she almost hit you. Eventually, the other side of the earth crevasse came into view so you started to slope your bridge upwards to the edge.
Once back on solid ground again you dissolved the bridge you had created. You realised that you had fallen behind slightly you could see about twenty people in front of you, so you picked up the pace slightly. You passed a couple of the other students, one being Midoriya who, for some reason, was lugging a big metal plate with him. You slyly bumped into Mineta, tripping him up as you smirked internally.
You heard the next obstacle before you saw it, a bunch of loud bangs going of sporadically. You've heard enough explosions to know that that's what was coming up. You stopped for a second before the minefield to assess the situation. You scanned the area seeing people getting blown away by the mines left and right, 'oh there goes Iida.'
You now smirked outwardly, time for your light tippy toes to come in handy. You were used to watching where you stepped thanks to your time as thief, you were flexible and had terrific balance. 'Watch this, I'm about to eat this up.' You instantly sprang off onto the minefield, hopping and stepping where you needed to. You threw in a handspring and a flip every now and then just to spruce it up.
That was until you heard a massive explosion from behind you, your head whipped in the direction of it only to be met with the sight of Midoriya flying out of an immense cloud of purple smoke on that piece of metal he had been lugging around with him. 'That smart son of a bitch!' Your eyes followed him as he flew over your head, you could see his hair and slightly chubby cheeks flap in the wind, it was quite an amusing sight if you were being honest.
You continued on forward and spied as he planted his feet on Todoroki and Bakugo's backs before whacking the scrap piece onto the ground causing another sizeable explosion. Due to your distracted state you accidentally stepped on a mine and got blown back a few feet and onto your back. You placed your hands beside your head and swung your legs upwards and down, your body following suit.
You jogged the final stretch before entering back into the arena through the gate, 'Sixteenth place. Pitiful.' It didn't bother you that much though since you were aiming to conserve your energy and observe other people's quirks. You had taken note of a few pupils' quirk along the way, there was a girl with vine hair, a guy that could make solid walls of air and one that could copy other people's quirks through touch.
It turned out that the top forty two contestants would move onto the next round. Midoriya had won the obstacle race which gave you the pleasure of witnessing Bakugo's tantrum at losing to him. You cackled quietly under your breath as he screamed bloody murder at no one in particular.
"WHAT ARE YOU LAUGHING AT (L:N)?!!" He turned to you and stomped up to you, genocide in his eyes. You thought you had seen him angry before but this was a whole new level, you didn't even realise that a human face could have that many creases.
Instead of apologising like a normal person who cared for other people's feeling, you just brought your hand up to cup your ear and leaned in towards him. "Come again? I don't speak second place."
Now that seemed to tick him off even more, it was amazing. Usually you had Aizawa hovering over your shoulder which stopped you from going to far but right now you were free. "YOU DID WORSE THAN ME!"
You shrugged and shoved your hands in your pockets looking aside before facing him again. "True, but I wasn't aiming to win. You, however, were so I'm pretty sure that that makes you a failure." You replied nonchalantly.
He let out a loud growl, grabbed your collar and pulled you closer boring into your soul with hate filled eyes that you returned. "I WILL KILL YOU!" His grip tightened with his knuckles turning white.
You grabbed his thumb and pried it off you and the rest of the hand went along with it as you pushed it into his chest and stepped closer. "I'd like to see you try." You spoke icily not flinching back when he suddenly stepped forward again. You were practically nose to nose now as you stared up at him, you could feel his hot breath fanning against your face.
You both stayed in this stalemate for a few seconds longer before Midnight announced the next round. You swivelled around and walked towards the stage where she stood, leaving Bakugo behind. 'A Calvary battle? What kind of fuckery is that?'
Once the rules had been explained you felt a tap on your shoulder. You peered over your shoulder to see Shinso, purple hair and all. He seemed to have a question so you turned around to face him, a signal for him to hurry up and ask.
"Would you like to be on my team?" Now here's the thing, you hadn't managed to see his quirk during the race so you had no idea of his abilities, and though he was one of the few people at this school you've had a bearable conversation with, it was too much of a risk if you wanted to get to the next round.
"Uh, I'll have to pa-" and just like that, everything became fuzzy and you had no idea of what you were doing.
