"Woah, you made me breakfast as well?" Aizawa's groggy voice filled the space as you placed two plates of pancakes on the table."Mhm" you nodded and sat down. You sprinkled sugar on top of your pancakes and got stuck in. The chair across from you made a screech noise as Aizawa pulled it out to sit on.
"You must be in a good mood. Looking forward to the festival?" He decided to pour syrup on his pancakes and grabbed a knife and fork.
"Yeah, can't wait to kick some hero ass." You rubbed your hands together in an off-putting manner. It's true, the competition was today and you were so ready to steal the first place spot from your year of hero losers. You could already imagine Bakugo's murderous face when he loses to you.
"That's not the point of the event, (Y:N)." He reprimanded, sighing both at your behaviour and your delicious cooking. He sliced through the fluffy meal and placed it in his mouth.
"Oh come on, I have to deal with going to that hell everyday, you can at least just let me enjoy this." You complained, in your mind it was only fair that you get to beat up your class and the rest of that crappy school.
"Whatever, let's just finish eating and head out."
"Okay."

You were sat in the waiting room with the rest of your class as you anticipated the start of the festival. You remembered how your parents always made you watch the event on television when you were younger. You quite enjoyed watching it, it shifted their attention from you to elsewhere so it gave you a welcome break from their scrutiny.
"I'm really excited to see your quirk again (Y:N)! It looks very useful!" Midoriya exclaimed at you, clearly not realising that you wanted to be left alone. Although you were excited, you were also feeling anxious. A fear of failure had been instilled in you from a young age by your parents. On top of that, it was the first time the world saw you in seven years.
"Shut up Deku, nobody gives a shit!" Bakugo hollered from a few feet away. For some reason he seemed a bit in his head to you. He was quieter than usual, which, though you'd never admit it, was quite unsettling. You still preferred the blissful quiet though.
"You're not even in this conversation short fuse." You growled back. Since the whole lockers debacle, the explosive boy took any chance to annoy you and you often bit back. It was fun for him and a pain in the ass for you.
"Why you-!" He began, standing up abruptly only to be interrupted by a monotone voice.
"Midoriya." It was Todoroki, you had noticed that he was tense but you had no idea why, not that you particularly cared. He then proceeded to declare war on Midoriya, mentioning a connection he'd noticed between Midoriya and All Might. 'I completely forgot about that. Come on (Y:N), get it together!'
Once Midoriya responded to him it was time to head out on to the field of the arena. In your mind, winning was the only option, but you had to be smart about it. You decided that at first you'd hang back and observe people's quirks but stay close enough to the top of the leaderboard to be safe.
Even before you walked out of the tunnel into the open, you could hear Present Mic introduce the class and the roar of the crowd. This was it, no backing out now. The sun glared in your eyes as you stepped outside with everyone else so you just kept your head down and continued. You didn't even know if you would be able to partake in an internship due to your situation, so there wasn't any real point to your being here.
You were pretty much zoned out thinking about what will happen for you with the internships for quite a while. You were only snapped out of it by Midnight announcing that Bakugo was the student rep. Apparently it was because he came first in the entrance exam, 'Ha! What a nerd!'
You watched as he swaggered up the steps and onto the stage before leaning into the mic. 'Please let this be terrible'
"I just want to say that..."
'Please let this be terrible, please let this be terrible, please let this be-'
"...I'm gonna win."
"Ha!" You let out a loud guffaw enjoying the sound of the groans and shouts that filled your ears. You had to admit it, even if you hated him, Bakugo sure was gutsy. Nevertheless, you still managed to see his speech for what it was, an attempt to rile everyone up and plant a target on his back. You sighed shaking your head at him and his need to top everyone else when they're at full strength.
The first challenge ended up being an obstacle race, it didn't sound like too much trouble. You were told to head towards the entrance of the arena to await the start of the race. Blood rushed to your ears as all the sound around you became muffled. Even after all these years you still got frightened at the idea of losing and this gate being jam packed with students wasn't helping.
Nonetheless, you tried to calm yourself and focus. You took deep breaths in and out, in and out. 'I can't lose, losing is for the weak and I can't be weak.' Luckily for you in this first round, due to your training and time as a thief for the guys at The Workshop, you were light on your feet and that's basically the key to an obstacle race right...? Right?
Although you were quite worried about the whole four kilometres thing, you were gonna have to push your short little legs to the limit for this. You were more of a short distance runner, small bursts of speed, but there was no point dwelling on that now.
"ON YOUR MARKS!!!"
Present Mic's shrill voice pierced through the air, booming from the speakers. 'We technically don't have marks to be at but go off I guess.'
"GET SET..."
You looked around you one last time at a sea of determined faces. 'Filthy hero wannabes... just watch, I'll beat you at your own game.' You thought over all the possibilities of what was to come. Would they make you climb a big rope wall? Or crawl through a small tunnel? You had no idea what they would do, you'd been at this school long enough to realise they have a crazy high budget.
"GOOOOO!!!"
And so it began.
