No One Comes Close To You

Chapter XVII

I parked the car on the line intended for us.
"Go directly to the board room."
My father said. I nodded my head. I went to my office to put my things and get the presentation.
Amy came in and she was about to kiss my cheeks. I blocked my arms to her.
"We are not supposed to do this Amy. Stay away from me from now on. I can't reciprocate the feeling you have for me!"
"What? "
"I can't do this anymore. For a year I've been literally crazy. Please let me live again. "
"Well,maybe because of her. You really love her but she left you. And now she's here again so you dumped me like a garbage."
"What do you mean?"
"She's here. Don't you know? She will be the new member of the board. Tsk,she likes surprises."
"What?"
"Well,find out yourself. Here's the presentation. And by the way,I quit!"
"What?"
"I can't work here anymore. I can't have future with you. You never love me."
"Did you love me?"
"What?"
"Did you?"
"C'mon Harry. I did."
"I can't feel it."
"Well because you're heart is only for her. Good luck!"
"Thanks by the way. But you don't have to quit from your work."
"I will. I have new work next week in London. Garfield Enterprises,ring a bell?"
"What?"
"Yeah,he proposed to me  last night.  "
"He didn't tell me."
"Well,when was the last time you met your friend in London,Harry."
"Oh, I'm happy for you."
She smiled at me. We are about to embrace each other when the door opened. A woman in a white coat and a high heeled entered my office. She's not that tall. I looked at her shoes.
"Good morning,Ms. Montenegro, nice to see you again."
Amy said.
"We are about to start,do you have plan to get into the meeting?" She said. Her voice that I missed since long time ago. She's actually here? Really?
"I'm going. Good luck!"
"Thanks." Amy left and I stood there.
Finn is standing in front of me with the same looks.
"So you are the person that my dad is referring to. Do you have plan to get the company? "
She smiled.
"No,it's yours. "
"Well,I can give up the company. I can still live until 70 with my money "
"Stop it. Move now." She said and turned towards the door.
"Why did you come back?" I asked.
"It's been a year. I missed Prague." She said and left me. I combed my hair with my fingers.
I gathered all the papers and the USB. I followed her in the meeting room. Everyone is already there. I didn't see her.
"Where's Finn?" My father asked me.
"I don't know. She left first."
After a while,she came in and sat on the seat provided for her. Her face is a little red.
We started the meeting. We are discussing the status of the company. The movement of the sales and the profit we received quarterly. My father proposed that we will work together with Finn. She will be assigned in the Philippines since she has a school to take care of. And I will be in Prague.
"I guess that sum up everything. I will entrust the company with these two people in front of us. I hope we could go up higher than before. "
Everyone agrees to my father. She is very silent that time. We remained in the meeting room.
"I'll be staying here for two weeks." She said.
"Okay."
"I want to see the record from 2028-2030."
"What?"
"Just to study what happens during that year."
"Okay."
"I'll stay here. Just go in your office. Bring me the files here."
"What? Are you serious?"
"I don't have table there."
"I can ask someone to put a table in my office."
"No need."
"Don't be stubborn. I don't like walking when I'm working. It's tiresome."
I got all my things and left. I asked our staff to bring a table in my office.
We moved my table from a little near the window. Her table is near the door.

She got inside the room. Since we  finished the meeting until evening,she's working. Jonah,her friend called me.
"Hello."
"Jonah,why you let her come here?"
"Mr. Suzuki asked her to do so. She was really working freak here. From early in the morning,she's working until in the evening. She did that for a year. "
"I'm sorry Jonah. I forgot my company. The business is getting worst. My father is scared if we will lose it."
"Where is she?"
"She's working. I don't know if she had lunch. It's past 3 in the afternoon."
"Oh my gosh!she really did that in there?"
"Yeah."
"I'm sorry,Harry."
"It's fine."
"Well,you may be a big help to her."
"Did she tell you about anything? Jonah?"
"No. Why?"
"When you came here,she made a bucket list and she did all those things."
"What?"
"We had fake relationship before. I fell in love with her secretly so that's why I forgot the company. I was miserable. I want to forget her."
"What? She never told me."
"I got angry with her. I thought we could move to the next level in our relationship but she broke up with me just like real couples do."
"What?"
"Yeah "
"You both crazy. Do you still love her?"
"Yeah. I guess "
"Well you can make it real now. Don't give up on her."
"What?"
"Yeah. We already got married but she's not yet. So we want her to do it "
" Thanks for trusting me,Sis."
"But I think she knows about Amy and you. Your grandmother told her last few months ago."
"What?"
"Yeah."
"What?"
"They met in the shopping mall."
"Oh geez.. She saw us this morning. Amy is leaving her work. She quit. I told her we can't be together. She understand."
"Well,for women it's not like that."
"Geez,Jonah,why didn't you tell me."
"Wow. You never called me this past year. "
"What should I do?"
"Prove to her that you don't have relationship with Amy."
"How?"
"I don't know."
I entered my room. I saw her still working on the papers I gave to her.
"Go ahead if you want to. I'm doing overtime. "
"The company can't pay you." I said.
"Just go. I don't want to hear you." She said without looking at me.
She stood up and brought the paper outside. I left alone in my room.
