The day had come. Addison's 20th birthday. Even though her and Bryce weren't exactly on speaking terms at the moment, he was the only person she wanted a birthday with from. If no one else in the world, she wanted one from him.
First thing in the morning she checked her phone.
No text, no call, no instagram story, nothing. Not from Bryce.
"Happy Birthday Addi!" Lucas yelled running in her room and jumping on her. She hugged him with all her strength squeezing him until he tapped her struggling to breathe.
She kissed his cheek and they laid there watching a show on her laptop until her mother came in to tell her she had to get up.
It didn't really feel like her birthday to Addison. It just felt like every other day. She got dressed and then went downstairs to spend time with her family.
They had bought a small cake for her because she had told them she didn't want anything big. No party, no gifts, nothing. All she wanted was a peaceful day at home and a birthday wish from a particular person.
"Addi let's play Mario Kart!" It's about 4 o'clock in the afternoon. I've gotten birthday wishes from everyone in the hype house and all the boys in sway except Bryce.
After a couple hours of playing Mario Kart I got bored. "Hey Luca, you wanna go for a drive?" I asked my brother. "Yeah!" He jumped up and put his shoes on.
I drove around for a little bit listening to music and dancing around, then we drove to our favorite spot to relax, just me and Lucas.
I parked the car and we both walked down the pier to the very end. We sat down letting our feet dangle over the water.
Lucas and I came here at least once a week. It was our special place. We made a pact that we would never ever bring anyone else here.
"Addi, it's your birthday, why are you so sad?" He asked after a few minutes of silence. "Well, I guess I'm just sad that Bryce didn't wish me happy birthday." I told him putting my arm around him.
"Well why? He loves you more than anyone else in the world, he told me himself!" Lucas asked confused. "I don't know, Bubba. Maybe he forgot it was my birthday." I suggested.
"But your birthday is all over the internet. How could he forget?" He made a good point. Maybe Bryce just doesn't want to talk to me right now.
If that's the case why doesn't he want to talk to me. I should be the one mad at him. I didn't motorboat a stripper while I was in a relationship...or whatever we were. He did. Not only that, he lied to me. He told me it was just going to be the boys, but there was over 300 people at this party.
I didn't care about his stupid party anymore. I missed him and all I wanted today was a birthday wish from him. If he didn't have that party we would probably be cuddling right about now.
Lucas and I were out for hours. I didn't realize how late it had gotten. It was well past Lucas's bed time. By the time we had gotten home it was 11:15. I put Lucas to bed after we had cake and was going to go to bed myself.
I opened my bedroom door to see 20 beautiful metallic purple balloons, and purple confetti, on my bed had a very large assortment of halloween candy, and then I saw Bryce, wearing a white button up shirt, with black slacks and dress shoes, standing in the middle of the room with a bouquet of bright red roses.
"I know you're mad at me, but it's your 20th birthday. There is nothing in the world that would've made me forget your birthday. I wanted to be the last person to tell you so that so that I could be the last person you spoke to before you went to sleep. Like I used to be when you were mine. I love you, Addison, and I miss you so much so please, please. Forgive me?"
I ran into him hands and hugged him. "Of course, I forgive you." We stayed in the hug for a while, like 5 minutes. We pulled away and rested our foreheads against each others.
"Stay tonight. Please?" I asked him. He nodded. Once I got his approval I immediately went in for the kiss.
Y'all probably know we're that went by the end of the night.
