Chapter 16: Final Battle
We were up high in the skies above where the battle was bound to begin. We were riding on Appa till we reached the Fire Nation, where we were thinking Azula would be. We were finally going to end this war, once and for all. This is where it was going to end.
"Zuko, don't worry. We can take Azula." Katara said in reassurance.
"I'm not worried about her, I'm worried about Aang." Zuko said. "What if he doesn't have the guts to take out my father? What if he loses?"
"Don't worry, Zuko. He'll come back. He won't lose. I know it." I said. "Just have some faith in the boy."
We arrived at the palace in less than twenty minutes, and we crashed right in before Azula was crowned Fire Lord.
"Sorry, but you're not gonna be Fire Lord today." Zuko said as he jumped off of Appa. "I am." Azula laughed in a mocking manor.
"You're hilarious." Azula said. Katara and I jumped off of Appa too and walked towards Zuko's side to join him.
"And you're going down," said Katara. Right before the fire bender crowned Azula, she stopped him with her hand.
"Wait," she said. "You want to be Fire Lord? Fine! Let's settle this, just you and me, brother. The showdown that was always meant to be. Agni Ki."
"You're on," replied Zuko.
"What are you doing?" Katara asked. "She's playing you. She knows she can't take us both so she's trying to separate us."
"I know," Zuko said. "But I can take her this time."
"But even you admitted to your uncle that you need help facing Azula." I said.
"There's something off about her," Zuko said, "I can't explain it but she's slipping. And this way, no else has to get hurt."
Katara and I nodded at this and so Zuko and Azula got into position while Katara and I stand at the sidelines.
"I'm sorry it has to end this way, brother." Azula said as she dropped her attire to the ground.
"No, you're not," Zuko muttered.
They each began fighting. Azula was the first to attack as she sent her blue fire at Zuko, and he deflected it with his red fire as it made a huge clash. They kept fighting head on. Azula has stronger attacks, but Zuko was quicker than her. Zuko was going to win this. I know he was! He had to!
Katara and I had to back up because the heat was so intense. Zuko had her right where he wanted her. Azula was slowing down. She was losing her energy quickly just by the minute. Azula was soon falling to the ground as she was losing badly. She had no injuries, but she couldn't go on forever with the duel.
Katara was about to run out and stop them if I hadn't put a hand on her shoulder to back her up. She pushed me off and ran anyways.
"Katara!" I called out as I ran after her. Ugh, she's so stubborn at times.
"No lightning today? What's the matter, afraid I'll redirect it?" Zuko yelled.
"Oh, I'll show you lightning!" She shouted as she was getting fired up again.
"Katara, get back!" I whisper yelled as I yanked her arm harshly. "Come on, you idiot!"
And that's when I saw lightning coming our way. I gasped as a last moment of action of adrenaline ran through me. I was ecstatic to finally have a fight. I acted fast and ran up to them quickly. I pushed Zuko down before he had the blow and within a swift movement, I had taken the heat.
