HER WHOLE existence was a lie.

JM felt like her world crumbled down as soon as she got the proof of her mother's marriage contract with her grandfather. Noong una ay hindi niya pinaniwalaan ang ina, not until Marino sent the proof of the marriage contract. Sa sobrang pagkabigla ay hindi  magawa ni JM na harapin ang daddy niya.

That must be why Marino opposed her existence. Bunga siya ng pagtataksil ni Janice rito. Bunga siya ng isang kasalanan sa mata ng batas at sa mata ng diyon.

She covered her face with her hands trying to surpress her anger and disappointment. Marino toyed with her and deceived her that she have a value for him at least. Ang buong akala niya'y matututunan siyang mahalin ng kanyang lolo bilang apo nito. Nagkamali siya. Marino used her for his own gain maybe because he thought that JM owed her whole existence to him, that he owned her life and all.

"Are you okay?"

JM looked up to see her boss Hefner's handsome face. Nakangiti ito at buhat-buhat si Evan.

"Hi, Evan! Ang tagal nating hindi nagkita, bebe!"

Kinuha ni JM ang bata mula sa boss niya at ini-upo ito sa kanyang kandungan. "You're so heavy!"

Nagbalik siya sa trabaho bilang assistant ni Hefner Waverly para masuportahan ang private nurse na kinuha niya para sa kanyang ina. She badly wanted to take care of her mother but there's no denying that her mother needs professional care. Nagdesisyon siyang bumalik na lamang sa trabaho kesa magmuryot sa kanilang bahay dahil sa mga nalaman.

Evan woke her up from her solitude by kissing her cheek. "Na-miss kita, ate. Wala ka pa rin po bang boyfriend?"

Hefner chuckled and pinched his son's cheek. "May boyfriend na ang ate mo, Evan."

"Hindi, daddy! Papakasalan ko si ate JM! Hindi siya pwedeng mag-boyfriend!"

At least she has this amazing job where she could forget her blues once in a while. Pinupog na lamang niya ng halik si Evan habang binabasa ang schedule ng kanyang boss Hefner.

"May meeting nga po pala kayo ngayon dito sa opisina with an investor. Should Evan and I go outside?"

Hefner lifted a hand. "No need for that. 'A' doesn't want a special treatment. Hindi mo na rin kailangang sunduin siya mula sa ground floor dahil alam niya ang daan papunta rito."

Tumango na lamang si JM at nakipaglaro kay Evan sa iPad nito. She was happy and distracted when suddenly, her nose caught another familiar manly scent. Kaagad siyang tumayo at hinanap ang amoy na 'yon sa buong opisina. Doon na lamang niya napagtanto na nakarating na ang investor na naka-schedule sa oras na iyon.

"JM, come here. I want you to meet a good friend of mine Alexus Anderson Trivano. Remember the brand of your computer? That was one of his..."

Everything stood still as if time froze itself. The mundane beat of her heart suddenly went lively at the sight of him. He looked fine at all, like he didn't even bother to think that she left him without saying a word.

Kaagad siyang tumabi sa boss niya at tipid na nginitian si Lex. He has this dangerous look on his face that he's trying to surpress by clenching his jaw. Nawala rin naman kaagad iyon at napalitan ng nakakalokong ngiti.

"Good to see you again, Em." May diin ang pagkakabigkas nito ng palayaw niya. She gasped once more, her knees trembling.

"You knew her? Good. Now, let's move on to the new business subsidiary of..."
