Simon has been getting awfully nice recently, I'm starting to get suspicious. Last night he offered to do the washing up without me asking. He's also cut out his scathing remarks about my clothes or hair. I could definitely get used to this.
"Hey Snow" I swivel around on my chair to face him where he's sitting on his bed scrolling through his phone.
"Yeah?" He asks cautiously, like he's trying very hard to not be hostile.
"Why don't we watch a movie or something tonight?" I suggest.
"Why?" Snow asks, his brow knitting together.
"I don't know? Because we're trapped here together, and we may as well hang out, and at least try to have an okay time," I tell him, and Snow raises an eyebrow at me. I can feel it coming, his annoying laugh followed by a sharp decline of the offer.
"Sure" he shrugs, and I'm beyond surprised.
"Okay awsome, what movie?" I want to give him the option to choose because I want him to stay engaged and not end up on his phone.
"I don't know? What's even out right now?" He frowns and pulls out his phone to scroll through Netflix's suggestions. His eyes light up suddenly, and I'm excited to see that he might've found something good.
"What are you looking at?" I ask when he doesn't end up saying anything.
"Oh nothing important I don't think you'd like it" he shrugs it off and keeps scrolling.
"Come on, what was it?" I push for an answer.
"I had a stupid anime phase in secondary school, and I just noticed that Netflix has Death Note on it. Kinda want to rewatch it" he explains, and I'm confused by how embarrassed he is to admit that to me.
"Oh okay, That's cool. I've never watched it though, maybe we could start it tonight, and if I like it we could watch the series together over our quarantine?" I suggest and worry that I'm coming off too strong. Up until today Snow and I have been at each other's throats for the past year. I think it's a bit weird for us to suddenly start hanging out, but at this point this year has been so shit, I don't think I really run the risk of messing anything up any worse that it already is.
"Sure whatever" Snow shrugs (why is he always shrugging?) and goes back to his phone. "When do we usually get dinner?" he asks, looking up at me again.
"I don't know, whenever the school gets around to us" I joke, and earn a light laugh from Snow. "But I think about six-thirty" I clarify, and he nods.
"Okay let's watch while we eat" he smiles, and I find myself smiling back at him. He is oddly charming when he isn't being an asshole.

Our almost inedible Uni provided food arrives closer to seven, and I go to retrieve it while Simon gets the show ready. I mostly volunteered to go grab the food because I didn't want to be the one to decide how we watch the show. I don't mind him sitting on my bed with me while we watch off my laptop, but I don't know if he'd be comfortable with that. It's best to just let him make the decision.
I grab us plates and take the packaged sandwiches out of their wrapping and place them on the dishes as if it will make them any more edible. I carry them over to where Simons still looking disoriented. "Dinner is served" I laugh, and Snow takes the plate out of my hand with an amused smirk on his lips.
"Damn just my luck, how did they know I was craving a three-day-old sandwich, on whole-wheat bread." He shakes his head, looking apprehensive to even take a bite.
"So, did you find the show?" I ask, taking the liberty to sit on his bed beside him considering he's put no thought into what we're gonna do.
"Yeah, but it keeps playing in English, and I can't take it seriously dubbed over like that," he tells me, angrily searching google for an answer to his predicament.
I roll my eyes and grab his laptop, quickly changing the language back to Japanese. "There you go, dumb ass" I place his computer back down beside him on his bed and he glares at me.
"Twat" he turns back to his screen.
"Come on, I was just joking" I slap his shoulder playfully, and I watch his glare soften.
"Fine" there's a soft smile pulling at the corner of his mouth that eases my nerves a bit. He pats the spot right beside him to get me to sit closer. I do what he asks, but still, feel awkward about it. However, I force myself to not let my mind wander as Snow presses play on his computer and the show starts.
It was only a half-hour, but it felt like three. The whole time I couldn't stop thinking about where I should put my hands, how close was too close, if I grabbed myself a blanket, should I offer to share it? Or is that weird? To my frustration he seemed to be a lot calmer than I was. Fucking level headed cunt.
