Mika Reyes
A week has passed after the victory party of Gilas. Today, we were scheduled to go to my monthly check up. It was the second time that Kiefer would accompany me.
"Love, ngayon na ba malalaman yung gender ng baby natin?" Kiefer asked while driving.
"Kulit po! Fourth month ko palang. Okay? Napakaexcited mo po!" I giggled.
"Kasi naman love, gusto ko ng malaman so that we could think of names, then shop for baby stuff, tas yung room pa pala! Ang daming preparations." He uttered. I just stared at him and I can see it in his eyes that he is excited to be a father.
"Love, we still have five months! Hello? Saka na tayo magbaby shopping. Tapos, madali na lang naman yung ganun." I explained then Kiefer scratched his head.
"Sorry, hehe excited lang?" He pulled over in front of the clinic. We were greeted by Dra. Abellon, my OB-Gyne.
"The baby is healthy. Actually, maganda ang response ng katawan nya towards sa meds na ininom mo recently." Dra. Abellon told us while showing the ultrasound of our baby.
"How about po sa lifestyle ko? Stressed po ba?" I asked.
"Mika, hindi naman. Kasi mukhang masigla ang baby mo. Iwasan lang madepressed at syempre ang stress sa work." She continued.
"Eh yun pong kapit ng fetus? Mababa pa din po ba?" I can't help but to ask.
"Actually, oo. Mababa ang matres mo kaya delikado yung pagbubuntis mo. And to warn you, this might be your first and last pregnancy. So be careful." After I heard that, my hand froze. Kiefer held it tight and placed it in his chest to give me an assurance. The doctor ended our check up but she asked Kiefer to stay. I went outside first and waited for him.

"Mr. Ravena, I want you to listen carefully to the things I will tell you concerning about your wife's pregnancy." Dra. Abellon said the she continued, "I will be honest, delikado ang pagbubuntis ni Mika. Yes, the baby is doing well. But the problem is, mahina ang kapit ng bata sa sinapupunan nya. Teribble things might happen such as makunan sya or worst case is this will be the last time she'll bear a child." My knees tremble and my heart sank after I heard those. I don't want to lose our child especially I don't want Mika to suffer.
"Ano pong pwede kong gawin?" I asked.
"Alalay ka sa kanya. Kung pwede lang nga na mababantayan mo, sige. Saka siguro quit muna sya sa career nya. Mas mabuti na yung kokonti lang ang iniintindi nya. Lastly, make her happy. Nothing beats positivity!" I thanked Dra. Abellon afterwards.
Mika spoke while we were eating lunch.
"Ayos naman. Sinabi lang na ingatan kita." I chose not to tell Mika what is her condition and what might happen.
"Love, magqquit na pala ako sa PH Team." She suddenly told me that.
"Are you sure? You can just file a maternity leave." If I would be the one to decide on this matter, I don't want her to quit volleyball.
"Yes. My family is now my life. Malay mo, baby natin future volleyball player din pala." Mika chuckled.
"Kung lalaki, basketball syempre!" I commented.
"Ano, tuturuan mong mag-flop?" Mika laughed. Her smile and laughter were one of the billion reasons why I kept on falling for her.
We strolled a little while in Rockwell. As usual, fans asked for photo op and we obliged happily.
