It Was Always You

I woke up around 8:30 in the morning and I did my usual morning routines. While combing my hair in front of the mirror, my eyes locked on the ring I was wearing. I thought to myself, "Akala ko panaginip lang. Totoo pala." That made me sigh.

Yesterday was too good to be true. Everything was like in a movie or a romance fiction novel. I never pictured myself marrying the one that got away. Well, basically we're not married. It's fake.

"Kief? Kiefer?" I called out for him. He was not in the living room nor in the dining area. I found a bouquet of fresh tulips with a stargazer on the coffee table of our suite.

A note was also left together with the flowers that says:

"Good morning Mika Ravena! Day 1 starts now -KR"

A smile curved on the corners of my lips as I put down the note and think of Kiefer.

I went outside my suite and Dani was walking towards me.

"Ate Miks, good morning!" She greeted me. "Wow, ganda ng flowers mo ha!" Dani also noticed the bouquet I was holding.

"Hi Dan! Nakita mo ba kuya mo? Wala kasi sa suite namin eh." Dani got her phone and dialled Kiefer's number.

"Wait, ate Miks. Nagriring lang eh." We waited for him to answer the call.

"Hello? Dani?" Kiefer's on the other line.

"Huy kuya! Unang araw nyo palang mag-asawa iniwan mo na si ate Mika sa suite nyo. Nasaan ka ba?" Dani put the call on speaker mode.

"I'm with Thirdy and Pauly. Nag-gym lang saglit. Are you with Mika?" Kiefer inquired.

"Yeah. Magbreakfast nalang muna kami sa lobby." Dani added.

"Okay. Uhm, can I please talk to Mika?" She gave her phone to me.

"H-hello babe?" I said with my pa-sweet voice.

"Babe, kain ka na munang breakfast with Dani ha. I'm still here at the gym with Pauly and Thirds." Kiefer sensed that I'm acting sweet so sya rin nag-go with the flow lang.

"Okay babe. I can't wait to see you. Bye!" I was about to drop the call when Kiefer said, "I love you. Bye!"

"Naks naman, ang sweet!" Dani teased me so I played with her hair. "Tara na nga Dani!"

Billie was already in the lobby when we came. Buffet style kasi yung food so eat-all-you can. We joined Billie on her table.

"Good morning Mrs. Ravena!" Billie kissed me on my cheek.

"Hi Bills!" I took my seat and so was Dani.

"Oh nasaan ang hubby mo? Missing in action din like Thirdy?" Billie looked around the halls as if searching for Kiefer.

"Kaya nga eh, nasa gym daw." I replied. Billie nodded and returned in eating her pasta.

"Finally, you're now my sister-in-law. Hihi!" Dani is still the sweetest. She hugged me and I returned the warm hug too.

"Aww! Sweet mo Dan!"

"Nakakaselos naman." Dani broke our hug and looked back. It was Kiefer.

"Hi baby!" I stood up and hugged him.

"Miss mo na ako agad?" Kiefer sat beside me. I just nodded and gave him a puppy look. He played with my hair and pinched my cheeks.
