"Woah, easy now." Avery said as I slowly but surely made my way down the steps. He held my hand and took every step before me.

"I'm fine, Avery." I smiled once I reached the landing and patted his shoulder before walking off into the kitchen. My mom turned and smiled at me.

"Whew." I sat down at the island and watched my mom make breakfast. I breathed in deeply, the scent of blueberry pancakes and scrambled eggs putting me in a trance. Avery sat next to me and placed his hand on my belly. I looked over at him, but he was too busy admiring the now noticeable bulge.

"Hey mom, we find out the gender next week." I chimed.
"Oh, honey that's great! I'm so sick of buying unisex clothes." she stopped scrambling the eggs and looked at me excitedly. Her long locks were pulled up into a bun, hanging gold earrings swayed at the sides of her slim face. She wore a long blue nightgown that clung to her shapely body in some places.

Avery looked up ."Yeah you and me bot-"
"We've got to have a gender reveal!" my mother's eyes lit up and I noticed some smoke coming from the eggs, I looked at them , then her and she went back to cooking. "Really? I mean it sounds nice but I've been waiting so long." I said half-excited.

"Baby c'mon it'll be fun." I looked at Avery who smiled reassuringly, his eyes were begging and I couldn't resist. "Fine. It does give me another reason to go shopping." I gave in.

"Hey guys." the twins spoke in sync as they walked in. Kayla immediately came to my side, Kendrick kissed me on the cheek and went to dap up Avery. "So what's going on?" Kayla asked.

"Well, mom wants to give me a gender reveal."
She gasped. "That's great! I just got this pink skirt set. I'm definitely team girl." she danced a little and I laughed. "Now Kay, we both know that's my nephew in there." Kendrick pushed his glasses back and leaned in the counter, staring at his twin intently.

"We'll find out next week y'all. Don't even trip." I looked between them both. "Buttt I'm team boy. Sorry Kay." I looked at Kayla and she playfully pushed me. We laughed and Mom placed a huge stack of pancakes in the counter.
"Pregnant ladies first."

"Thanks, Mom. Everything was great." I kissed her on the cheek and grabbed the empty plates off the table. I took them to the sink and I felt a hand on my shoulder just as I began to wash the dishes. I turned to see Kendrick, pushing back his glasses. "I got it, sis." I moved out of the way and wiped my hands dry on the towel sitting near the sink. I watched as he began washing the dishes. "Sooo.. baby bro. What's been going on? I barely got to catch up with you."

"Yeah, I know. I'm sorry, I've just been on the move a lot, work, school , home and my girlfriend hav-"

"I'm sorry, your what?" I cut him off. I had no idea he had a girlfriend and I wanted to know everything.

"What's her name? How old is she? How y'all met? Um when am I meeting her? She big? Skinny? Tall? White?" Kendrick smiled and laughed slightly at my flurry of questions, but I was serious.

"Gloria, 18, on campus and- wait, I could just show you a picture." he grabbed the towel and dried his hands, then slipped his phone out of his pocket and after some swipes, showed me a picture of him and Gloria. She was beautiful, she was dark skin and had a pretty smile. "She's pretty, Ken. I see you. She got some meat on her too boy, we love to see it." I pinched his cheek and he laughed a little as I handed him his phone. He looked at the picture for a few seconds and locked the phone. "So how long y'all been together?"
