Royal 35 Steakhouse, Manhattan,NYC
"Have a good night, Ms.Kellandra. And happy birthday." Avery's driver tipped his hat and smiled warmly before he closed the door after I stepped out the limo.
"Thank you, Don." I smiled back then headed to the front doors of Royal 35.
This is the restaurant Avery and I went to when we reconnected, I love the food and atmosphere here but haven't been here for years! So it was only right that I celebrate my birthday here.
I walked into what was to my surprise- darkness. It was cold , like restaurants always were. There was a quiet, stillness.
"Uh- Hello? These niggas closed? Chile I -"
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY KELLY!!!!!"
Red lights snapped on and a spotlight was put on me as I stood there , heaving because they scared the shit out of me. I slowly walked toward Avery and all my friends and family with the biggest smile on my face. He handed me a fat ass red rose and sunflower bouquet, which I took excitedly as he kissed me and hugged me.
"Happy Birthday, baby." he whispered in my ear.
A caterer approached and handed me a microphone.
"Thank you all ! Y'all almost sent me into labor though , Jesus." I said into the mic, to which they laughed and Pearl and Taneya came forward.
"We wanted to get everyone together to let you know that we're here for you. And your little ones." Pearl said into her own mic, Taneya stood by her side and nodded in agreement.
"I appreciate everyone in this room right now. But respectfully, I came here to eat so..." the crowd of my family, friends, and I guess their plus ones laughed as they separated, "Shining" by Beyoncé started to play.
As I handed the caterer the mic, I turned to see Draya standing near the gift table (which was overflowing by the way. God, I love it here.). She took a gold , shimmery gift bag and set it carefully in the table.
"You alright ?" Avery says as he stood next to me, staring at Draya with the same expression of curiously on his face. "Yeah I never seen her before either. But she looks like-"
"I know. She's a sales lady at Barney's and Taneya took a liking to her." he handed me a wine glass with apple cider. I quietly wished it was some Taylor Port.
"Shiiii, least she brought a gift." he put his arm around me and turned me around . "I got like 4 take home plates in the car so don't eat too much, alright fatty?" I playfully nudged him and he kissed my forehead.
"Kelly? Kelly girllll! Happy birthday!"
I turned to see Sy and Dee standing us. Sy was holding a red gift bag and Avery dapped up Dee.
"Happy birthday, Kell." Dee says.
"Thank you both for coming, so nice to finally meet you!" I said as I hugged Syrahbi. She just had a baby girl named Blessing, Avery told me.
"Bro, walk with me to the car real quick? I got y'all baby shower gift in there." Avery gestured to the door and they left out.
