January 11, 2015: Time Limits, Roleplaying, and White Band
Time Limits
Time limits really scare me sometimes. So to set the scene, imagine an exhausted me, in 6th hour, day of a quiz, in HS Algebra. Now this is where I'm a little irked. We take 10 minutes to do bell work, 10 for homework, and about 35 for the test.35 Minutes!? To do 11 complex substitution/elimination problems? I wanted to be a good student, so instead of rushing, like I usually do, I actually decided to check my work, and take my time. Unfortunately, 35 minutes is not enough for me. I turn in my test with reluctance. I missed two equations, and X for one.
Fast forward a couple days, as I cringe to get my test back, I end up with D-. All because I had a faulty time limits. I'm not trying to rant here, but if he would've given me just a couple more minutes, I would've gotten a flat B!
Still, I guess I can re-do it and get partial credit with a B-. Although, I'm not satisfied with that. What's done is done, I guess
Roleplaying
So, as a growing Instagram user, I interact with my Hetalia fans best by setting up scenarios where two characters interact, or role playing. And since I never know where this is heading, I love the unpredictability.I enjoyed a lot of hilarious and fantastic Roleplay scenarios, one ranging from Cardverse to Spain and Romano baking cookies (my idea!), to one with a lot inner fangirling with a USUK ship. Besides, I'll probably end up saying stuff outside of the RP when stuff gets really good, for example from last night.
Me: OH MY GAWD! That's so ASDFGHJKL ADORABLE! *ahem* Erm, that's really cute.
(This is when you give me half a bottle of soda, a mini bowl of pasta, and really laying it thick with the writing and detail on a Roleplay. Hyper mode activated.)
It's almost like taking turns painting with an invisible artist right next to you. You paint the scene. And whether or not they enhance or destroy it, all you can do is sit back and watch. And honestly, watching it is equal to painting it. They both have their pros.
Usually, only two things anger me.
1. Text Lingo.
Why?: I understand you don't have to have perfect grammar, and I'll ignore that quirk, but Text lingo is a bit low. I really don't want to waste time having to decode your message.2. Half-baked replies
Why?: Do. Not. Give. Me. One liners. A.) I will have no idea how to push this forward and we'll be stuck in a rut.
B.) It tells me you're bored and/or want to stop. All you have to do is ask...Usually I'm not one to enforce either one strictly, but if it starts getting annoying, I'll warn you.
White Band
My friends and myself are waiting eagerly for our placement in the Symphonic Celebrations Bands. White and green.
Now I was neither for nor against any band. I was happy either/or. I was placed in the White Band for a piece called Three Scottish Vistas. We're also competing who is the better band of the three of us middle schools. So, when I look on the list for Oboes, I had some (hopefully) worthy competitors.
Being El solo Lobo, (The Lone Wolf in Español.) I never have any contests with anyone and that, for me, is actually kind of disappointing. My friends, Emilina, with her saxophone, is the ruling first chair/queen of the eight in her section. Silvia, I can say, is a knight in a sense within the group. She's gotta hold her position. So when I finally find out I'm up against three people my age and someone from one of the best bands in the district, I'm actually pumped.
Three Scottish Vistas is also the best out the two songs in my skill set by a margin, next to Valley of the Sun. So, I'm actually pretty happy.
I guess to end it here, go check out my good friend pkep246369 's book, Something. (Yes, that's the title.) Which sorta goes along with the whole non-fiction memoir idea.
Until next time,
Elisabeth
