I walked around my lawn earlier today and you know how living in the middle of the forest feels so quiet and serene? Like a pleasant afternoon, with birds chirping and the sun shining? My neighborhood feels like the complete opposite. It feels so lonely and isolated. Like if you were kidnapped, it felt as if you wouldn't have been heard for miles around. This kinda reminds me of my little adventure from two summers ago.

August 12th, 2012: Braving the Forest

I had my little red cellphone in my back pocket of my shorts, just in case I needed help. I stopped my red scooter on the sidewalk and placed it nearby the entrance to the forest. The path down to the forest was rocky and steep. One wrong step and I would've knocked myself unconscious. I carefully step on a rock. Then I moved to a couple more stable rocks.

Alright, so far so good. I thought to myself. I stepped on one rock and it tumbled down the hill, almost sending me with it. I slowly back my foot from the path. I look down and there is a small white ball. I picked it up to find it's a golf ball. How odd...what would a golf ball be doing here? I finally manage to reach the bottom of the hill and walk through the leaves to a mysterious lake. There was also a three-way crossroad. Which was behind, left and right. Before I could make a choice, I suddenly heard a distant yell.

I crouched into the bushes and realized the unthinkable. This isn't a natural forest, this is a golf reservation! I thought in disappointment. I peak put from the bushes and crawl to my right when I see two men playing golf. One of them spots me from a long shot and I make a break for it. But, I wasn't done conquering the forest. Why, this was only the start of it. Adrenaline filled my body with excitement as I hid behind some tall shrubs. I decided to head left instead and Nature was not on my side. Thorns scratched my soft skin, mosquitos bit into my bruised skin, and I was not being the most incognito explorer. I just wanted to prove to my friends that I was just as tough as them!

In turn, the adventure was a success and I was not caught by the golfers. I decided to explore the forest in bits. The only worry I had that summer was how not to make mud so appearing.
