Chapter 5: Meeting the Ashidos (Part 2)

Mina

I can't believe it... Y/N had a spare invitation... and he gave it to me!

I'M GOING TO I-ISLAND WITH Y/N! FUCK YEAH!!

The night grew colder and colder with each passing second they were outside for, something not even the summer month of July could offset, but with a peaking happiness and a blossoming development Mina and Y/N walked back to the latter's house, completely unbothered by the dropping temperature. Mina was so cheerful in fact, that she even added a little skip to her step as a wide and happy grin stuck to her face.

"How on earth did you even manage to get TWO tickets?! I heard you had to be invited personally to get one!" Mina exclaimed, earning her an amused chuckle from her boyfriend as she walked with him.

"I actually got contacted directly, said something about my second quirk and sent me an invitation... which just so happened to come as a set of two." Y/N explained with an embarrassed laugh. "Nearly couldn't get to sleep that night, it was just so surprising."

Mina entwined her hand with his own as they walked, the odd chirp of wildlife being heard from the bushes from time to time. Compared to earlier, outside in the back garden proved to be much more suitable for the black-horned teen, and Mina couldn't help but agree with him on that. They deserved it. She giggled once she began to picture Y/N's reaction. "Oh my word, I can just imagine it! I bet you were jumping around like a little kid on Christmas Eve." Mina teased.

"If it weren't for my already sleeping cousin... I just might of." Y/N admitted.

They neared the dual set of slider doors that led into the Ashido household, laughing together at Y/N's truthfulness, and she hovered her hand over the handle before turning to him with a curious expression.

"Hey, um... you wanna tell Mom and Dad about... you know, or should I? Cuz they're pretty much gonna figure it out eventually." Mina questioned. She was right, if Mina's parents suddenly found her packing an absurdly amount of clothes for something neither Meika nor Makoto knew about... questions were bound to spread. And if they didn't and Mina decided to tell them last minute? The chances of her even getting approval to go to such a place would've been pretty much dashed at that point.

They had to tell them now, or else Y/N's little surprise would've been for nothing. And the boy himself knew that. "True, they would..." His voice trailed off in thought, before he swiftly clicked his fingers and brought her attention to a sudden idea. "How about I build it up, and you give the news? We can't just waltz in there and be like, 'Yeah, so Mina and I... We're going to I-Island.' That would be quite weird." Y/N explained.

"Oooh, yes! Let's do that! We build it up slowly, then BOOM! Break the news! Mina excitedly agreed. "Approval, here we come!"

"Let's just hope it'll work..." He mumbled, he had already built up a good relationship with Meika but Y/N still couldn't help but feel a little doubtful about his plan.

Until a reassuring hand grasped his shoulder. "Hey, it will work. Better to tell them now than leave it last second, right? Just leave it to the pro and we'll be flying our way out of here!" Mina assured him confidently, looking at Y/N with a smile.

"Okay..." He sighed, before giving her a smile back. "Let's do it."

"That's the spirit!"
