"What in the world are you doing here?". She said gritting her teeth trying not to chop off his head
He grins a boyish grin, "Well, wherever you are I had to be there".
"No, you don't". She said crossing her hand over her chest
"Yes, I do". He said as a matter of fact, "Are you going to come with me or wait here all day for taxi?. Because as far as I know, the place you want to be in is quite far".
"I am not even going to ask how you know where I was going". She said angrily entering inside his brand new car rolling her eyes because it was her favourite
She switches on her mobile looking through the emails when she feels him sitting inside. She didn't realise in her anger that she had done something very wrong. She wasn't supposed to be near him and now she is just a few meters away from him which made her heart ready to explode at any given time. She feels the tingle going around in her body as she tries to calm herself down.
"ANABIA". She heard him scream jolting her in her seat
She places a hand over her chest to calm down her fast-beating heart, "What is wrong with you?".
"I have been talking for about 10 minutes now and you didn't listen to any of my words". He stated
"So what?. I never agreed to listen to you". She said shrugging going back to look at her mobile
"I said we will eat something first and then head to the long journey". He said turning the car to the location of the restaurant, "I know it's your favourite".
She ticked her jaw feeling the bubble of anger rising inside of her but she didn't want to lash out especially when there is food involved. She didn't even wait for him heading to the familiar restaurant she had once visited with him when she came here with him for his business trips.
She remembers that day clearly because she was bored for 3 days in that hotel room that belongs to him and decided to sneak out shutting down her phone. She found this place by accident after roaming around the country and loved it's interior. Then she went to the restaurant to eat after she was done ordering a raging Usman walked inside the restaurant.
She remembers him shouting at her for being irresponsible and more in front of all the people while she cries in humiliation. He never apologised for his behaviour but expected her to be back to normal which she didn't actually do. She wasn't able to be normal after that. Now that she looks at everything there were signs everywhere and there is no way she wouldn't have known if she wasn't blinded in his love or so she thought.
These bits and pieces of things he had done to her had been a reason she was able to walk away. Because it was as she was preparing for this day with his constant thrash behaviour towards her. She didn't wish to enter this restaurant again. She wonders if people remember her face and if someone does remember her she will have to face the same humiliation again.
Instead, she looks around to find him looking at her with the agony she once felt when she was insulted in this place and she wonders if he had brought her here just to put salt on her wounds.
"I wanted to rectify my mistake". He said softly
"You think by doing this you can just simply wipe away everything you have done?". She asked raged
"No! I don't want to wipe away the past we had even if it wasn't as it should have been it was still beautiful". He said looking in her eyes and the pain he had caused, "At least to me it was beautiful. What I want is for us to make an even better future".
