She taps her feet anxiously as she waits in the hospital watching the people running around but she remains unresponsive to everything. She had just witnessed his death from so close that she never thought that she will break down by his presence again.
"What happened?". She heard a very angry voice booming through the empty corridor of the hospital
Her eyes went to Akbar's burning eyes looking at the few men who helped her bring Usman to the hospital.
Akbar looks at his guard he had assigned for their safety and they managed to fail miserably at their job.
"We're sorry, sir. It was raining so we didn't catch them leaving for a while and when we reached he was shot down". His guard explained
"I specifically told you to not allow them out of your site and still my friend is in the hospital because of you". He growled as he glared at them, "Did you catch the men?".
"They were the local thieves". His guard explained, "We caught them and they are locked".
"I will deal with them after I am done here". He replied as he turns to find a stilled Anabia a little away from them
He took steps near her sitting beside her, "Do you know why he was in the forest?".
"Because of me". She replied after a long moment, "It was all my fault".
Then she weeps thinking about how it all could have been avoided if she didn't run mindlessly in the forest.
"I think it was for the best". Akbar said leaning on the chair
She turns to him confused and he smiles looking at her, "I guess you found something that you were running from all this time".
"What are you talking about?". She asked frowning
"The key to your heart". He said shrugging, "You know I supported you after just hearing your side of the story, right?".
She nodded wiping her tears away as he spoke again, "I never once asked him about his side of the story. I believed whatever you told me and how it all seemed. Should I say I assumed it that way?".
"And?". She asked
"And I shouldn't have done that. Not when Usman had been my friend for years and I have seen him grow in front of me. I shouldn't have just trusted one side instead when he came to me begging to find you. I should have asked me what it was all about instead of accusing him". Akbar replied sighing
"So what?. You think I was lying?. That what he did to me was all something I assumed?". She said as anger starts to build in her
"This". He said pointing at her, "You are just as short-tempered as him. You both make decisions on your anger and you can't simply put it aside and talk it out. Whatever you heard that night did you double-checked it?".
"What was there to double-check?". She asked frustrated, "He said it himself what he had done and that he was planning to do. He took over my hotel that I worked in for so long. What was there more to check there?".
"I thought so too". Akbar said taking a deep breath, "I wished it was all that simple. But looking at you right now even if I bring in fact for you I don't think you will understand them".
Akbar stands from his seat looking at her, "Maybe the truth you heard was half of it. Maybe there was more to it that you have been running from".
She sits there alone waiting for the news of his health for a few more hours. She heard loud noises and that's when she found all of his friends coming in. She had never seen all of them together. The most she interacted with were the ladies and to find them all rushing in made her gulped.
