She stands in front of the window looking at the sky turning darker by every hour. She turns to find him sleeping in the big pile of duvet around him and his face remains blank, thankfully.
He's whimpering and cries always leave her heartbroken.
I-I killed you.
It was a fact.
"What are you talking about, Usman?". She asked confused
"That night, when you found everything and ran away. I came after you after a few minutes but no matter how much I looked the whole night I didn't find you. Then, I found your car crushed by the road. I thought you were dead. I thought I lost you that night. I never found your body that night but every time there was an accident, I was called to verify if it's you and every single time I felt the same pain in my heart. The pain of losing you because I was selfish and stupid".
It was just a plain fact.
He did kill her that night maybe not physically but he did kill her in all other ways possible. Her car did have an accident and that's just how she ended up meeting people who helped her be who she is today.
With her mind on a constant battle, she prepares herself for dinner walking out of the room leaving him behind feeling the suffocation clouded her. She walks around watching the interior mesmerized by every inch of this place. She didn't know how long she looked around until she heard a distressed voice calling for her and her ending in a hug.
His hug.
"Where have you been?". He asked upset
"You are acting like I died or something". She said with her hand still on her side
His arms tightened around her telling her that he must have had a horrible dream one like in hospital for him to be running around looking for her this way.
She sighs.
He pulls back looking at her bringing his hand to her cheek caressing them, "Please don't leave me again".
"You keep saying it as if I promised to stay with you". She said angrily as she pushes his hand away," You followed me on my work and ruined everything. I never came back to you in the first place to stay with you until the end".
"But--". He started
"Dinners ready". She heard someone say making her shriek and hide into his chest
He looks behind at the worker nodding wrapping his arms around her inhaling her scent.
"She is gone". He whispers in her ear making her shiver as she pushes him to leave but he didn't let go
"Leave me". She said narrowing her eyes at him
"No". He said shaking his head childishly
"Are you sick again?". She asked placing her hand on his forehead and the little distance between them vanished
It all took a second to click as she held her breath raising her eyes to look into his intense stare right at her. He leans closer to her making her heart thunders loudly against her chest but just as he near, he moves back holding her hand walking towards the stairs.
She curses herself for losing herself to him again as they walk back down.
"Stop it". He said startling her from her thoughts
"What?". She asked confused
"Stop overthinking, Anabia". He said turning to pass her a glamorous smile before turning around walking into the dining room
