3rd person POV :

(Y/N)'s first class was potions. When she arrived in the corridor she saw that there were only, nearly a dozen people progressing to N.E.W.T. level. Cedric failed to achieve the required O.W.L. grade, an 'Outstanding' but Alex from Hufflepuff had made it through. They were the only Hufflepuff in there. Four Ravenclaws and four Slytherins were there, and one Gryffindor, Helena vane, whom (Y/N) liked despite her rather pompous manner. The four Slytherins took a table together, as did the four Ravenclaws. This left Helena, Alex, and (Y/N) to share a table. Both (Y/N) and Alex gave Helena a small smile and she smiled back.

Even though Alex and (Y/N) were in the same year and house for past 5 years, they were nothing more than acquaintances. Alex was always reserved, talking only when it was necessary. But he wasn't necessarily shy. He was confident of himself.

"So," (Y/N) started, looking at Alex " You like potions ?"

"I love them! I want to create a new potion someday."

"Best of luck!"

"Thanks!"

Before they could further proceed the conversation, Professor Snape walked in. He gave them introductions about NEWTs.

" So, who can tell me what is Veritaserum?"

All the students raised their hands.

"Alright. Start from the first person and each answer for a question." The first person was Helena.

"Veritaserum is a colorless, odorless potion that forces the drinker to tell the truth," she said.

"Now," he continued, "Polyjuice Potion?" he asked to (Y/n). "It transforms you into somebody else. But, it can only be used for human transformations. It will wear off after an hour ."

"Amortentia?" He asked, looking at Alex "what it does?"

"It's the most powerful love potion in the world!" he said. "It has distinctive mother-of-pearl sheen and the steam rising in characteristic spirals, and it's supposed to smell differently to each of according to what attracts us. "

The class continued like that, professor Snape asking everyone questions about every potion they would brew that year.

"Yayyyy! All our next classes will be practical ones!" (Y/N) whooped childishly, after they were dismissed.

"You are such a child!" Alex shook his head, smiling. She stuck out her tongue at him.

"Real mature, (Y/L/N)" he told her, trying to keep his face straight. Seconds later, they both burst out laughing.

"I have a feeling that we will be great friends! " she told him.

"I do too."

"Why haven't we talked before?"

"We have-"

"No. I meant like, actually talking. Not just passing information."

"Well, I am a bit reserved."

"Couldn't have guessed" she replied, sarcastically. He chuckled.

"What do you have next?"

"Defence against the Dark Arts."

"We have it together. Wanna walk together?" she asked him

"Sure!"

They went to the classroom and sat together in a table. Cedric entered the classroom minutes later. When he saw (Y/N), he smiled at her and she waved. But he frowned, when he saw the seat next to her was taken. He went and took a seat behind her.

"Hi" She greeted him.

"Hey, um...listen-"

At that moment, professor Lupin entered the class and they fell silent.

"Good afternoon," he said. "Would you please put all your books back in your bags. Today's will be a practical lesson. You will need only your wands."

A few curious looks were exchanged as the class put away their books. They had never had a practical Defense Against the Dark Arts class before, unless you counted the memorable class last year when their old teacher had brought a cageful of pixies to class and set them loose.

He told them they have to practice Expelliarmus, as it would be better to start from basics, given their past classes were only theoretical.

"Right," said Professor Lupin, " You should all divide into pairs." He waved his wands and the tables and chairs disappeared. (Y/N) was paired with Alex.

"Right — on the count of three, then — one, two, three —"

The room was suddenly full of shouts of "Expelliarmus!": Wands flew in all directions, missed spells hit books on shelves and sent them flying into the air.

(Y/N) was too quick for Alex, whose wand went spinning out of his hand, hit the ceiling in a shower of sparks, and landed with a clatter on top of a bookshelf, from which she retrieved it with a Summoning Charm. Glancing around Professor Lupin thought he had been right to teach them the disarming spell once more; there was a lot of shoddy spellwork going on; many people were not succeeding in disarming their opponents at all, but merely causing them to jump backward a few paces or wince as the feeble spell whooshed over them.

"Don't you feel bored?" (Y/N) asked Alex."I mean, we've got the hang of it."

"Yes, I am." He agreed "But there is not exactly any other thing we can do, is there?"

She looked at him with a mischievous grin. Alex raised her eyebrows at her . "Just watch this!" she told him before turning around. He watched her antics, amused.

Professor Lupin moved off into the middle of the room. Something very odd was happening to Adam Boot of Ravenclaw; every time he opened his mouth to disarm Frank Goldstein, his own wand would fly out of his hand, yet Frank did not seem to be making a sound. He did not have to look far for the solution of the mystery, however; (Y/N) and Alexandar Messon were several feet from Adam and taking it in turns to point their wands at his back.

"Sorry, Professor," said (Y/N) hastily, when she caught his eye. "Couldn't resist . . .was bored!" And then, she turned to Alex and they started disarming each other.

Professor Lupin wondered how she could just resemble her mother this much. Both physically and by attitude. He was brought out of his thoughts by the bell ringing.

"I'll see you during the next class. Until then, class dismissed. "

"you guys get going. I've to speak to professor Lupin." She told Alex and Cedric.

"Okay...We'll wait in the great hall." Alex told her and Cedric nodded, before they walked to the great hall.
