Chapter 11 : Feeling Guilty

Cedric POV :

I flew to Cho after the tryouts got over. I heard a sudden yelp as we were talking and turned towards the direction of the noise, only to find Alex laughing at (Y/N/N) who was covered in mud. I chuckled as they both started play- fighting, but a part of me felt guilty. I realized I was spending less and less time with her and more with Cho. But she understood me. That was why she was my best friend. That was why I loved her so much. But another part of me felt a bit jealous when I saw her with Alex. I mean, she is still my best friend, isn't she? Maybe they will get together? They will make a good pair too.

"They are cute!" Cho told me, as Alex carried (Y/N) in a fire man carry, towards the changing rooms.

"Yeah! They are!" I told her.

"Umm...I'll see you later?" She asked me.

"Yeah...Sure!" I told her.

She was fiddling with her fingers, nervously.

"Are you okay?"

"Hmm....Yeah...Bye Ced!"

"Bye!" And then she walked away, blushing madly.

"Bloody hell!" Heat formed in my cheeks and I put a hand at the cheek where she had kissed me.

"It was just a kiss in the cheek, pretty-boy! Don't act like you made out with her!" No need to turn around. Only the Weasley twins called me that. I just waved them off and started walking towards the changing rooms. I wanted to apologize to (Y/N). But she had already left to the common room.

3rd Person POV :

When Cedric entered the common room, he found her at a corner talking to Alex. He silently walked behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist in a hug. She jumped at the sudden contact. She turned her head and relaxed as soon as she realized it was just him. But, her breath hitched as she realized their closeness and butterflies erupted in her stomach.

"Remembered I am still alive, did you? " She asked him.

"I'm sorry!" He mumbled, placing his chin on her shoulder. Alex just walked away with a smile.

"Hey, I was just joking." She reassured him, though she was far from joking.

"No, I really am sorry!" He told her, removing his arms and she craved his touch, missing his warmth. "I should have spent more time with you."

"It's okay. I understand." She told him, turning to face him.

"We'll spend some time together, tomorrow."

"Sure!"

He hugged her and kissed the top her head and her heart pounded in her chest.

"Good night shorty"

"Good night, Golden boy"

"Hey!" He pouted and she walked away laughing.

(Y/N) woke up with a smile that morning. When she came to the common room she fond Alex sitting on the couch, a book in his hands.

"Morning!" She greeted him, smiling.

"Someone is happy today...." She just shrugged in response.

"Do you want to eat with us today?" She asked him as they were walking to the great hall.

"Don't you think I would be intruding the reunited best friends?"

"Mr. Alexander Messon! Will you do me a favor?"

"What?" He asked, as they entered the great hall.

"Shut your mouth and come sit with us!"

"There is no us, only a me!"

"What?" He just wordlessly turned her around to face the Ravenclaw table and there was her best friend, laughing with Cho and her friends.

"Right!"

"Do you want to sit with me?" Alex asked her with a cheeky smile, like he was the one offering her and she let out a shaky laugh. She shook her head, smiling.

"You are growing on me!" She told him and he laughed. But when they sat at the Hufflepuff table, her gaze moved involuntarily to the Ravenclaw table.

"What class do we have next?" Alex asked her.

"Huh? Defence"

"Shall we get going, then?"

"Hmm."

When they reached the DADA classroom, Cedric joined them.

"Hey shorty! Alex!"

"Hey!" They chorused.

"When do you have a free period?"

"Next?"

"Right! Come with me to the black lake?"

"Sure!"

"You can join us too, Alex."

Alex just smiled and nodded. "You go alone." He whispered in her ear.

"No. Come with me. I can't handle if Cho comes there. I mean, I can handle Cho. She is a sweet girl. But I can't handle him when she is near!" She whispered back. Alex nodded, once again and they went inside the class.

"We can practice in pairs," said professor Lupin, as they got ready with their wands. "We'll start with the Impediment Jinx, just for ten minutes, then we can get out the cushions and try Stunning again." They all divided up obediently; (Y/N) partnered Alex as usual.

(Y/N) saw Cedric laughing at something his partner said and felt the familiar swooping sensation in her stomach, as though she had missed a step going downstairs.

The room was soon full of intermittent cries of "Impedimenta!" People froze for a minute or so, during which their partners would stare aimlessly around the room watching other pairs at work, then would unfreeze and take their turn at the jinx.

After ten minutes on the Impediment Jinx, they laid out cushions all over the floor and started practicing Stunning again. Space was really too confined to allow them all to work this spell at once; half the group observed the others for a while, then swapped over. "You're getting really good," Professor Lupin said, beaming around at them.

At the moment, the bell rang and all students groaned.

"I'll meet you next class. Practice the stunning spell properly for homework. Thank you! Class dispersed! "
