Chapter 18 : Broken Leg

3rd Person POV :

After Madam Pomfrey shooed the Gryffindor team away from Harry, they checked on (Y/N) and left. (Y/N) was promised by Fred and George that they would do more pranks as she was not allowed to play. While they left, Cho entered and (Y/N) didn't miss the look Harry threw her way, but Cho didn't see it as she hurried towards (Y/N).

"(Y/N)! Thank god you are okay."

Cho stayed for some more time, but madam Pomfrey insisted that she should leave. (Y/N) could tell that Cedric was torn between taking care of her and going after Cho. So, she made him leave.

"What is it?" Alex asked out of the blue.

"What ?" (Y/N) asked him.

"Something's bothering you."

"Nothing...just.....the dementors suck..." She told him. Alex stared at her for a second, then started laughing. (Y/N) looked at him like he was insane, but realized her unintended pun and started laughing with him. Yeah! Dementors are soul suckers aren't they. Both of them knew it wasn't something so hilarious, but they needed a laugh and that did it.

(Y/N)'s stay in the infirmary was good until Harry left. She had company even after Alex and Cedric left for class. Sometimes, Dalton and Jessica would visit too. But Harry was dismissed while she still had to stay there for three more days.

"It's nearing curfew. Don't you have to go? " She asked Alex on the evening of her first day alone.

"No."

"Then? Are you going to stay on this chair?"

"Not really.." He stood up. "Scoot over."

"What?!"

"Scoot over..."

He lay down next to her, pulling the duvet over both their heads.

"I hate sharing my bed with you" She whined, but both of them knew it was her way of thanking him.

After three days, in which Alex snuggled on the bed with her, she left the hospital wing, escorted by both Alex and Cedric.

The next morning Cedric woke up as usual, and noticed Dalton was snoring nearby, but Alex's bed was empty. He remembered Alex was talking with (Y/N) when he left to bed. He climbed down the stairs to the common room only to be completely shocked.

(Y/N) woke up to someone mumbling a "What the actual hell?"

She opened her eyes and blinked a few times to adjust to the brightness. She saw Cedric standing over them with a raised brow.

"It's nothing. Just a force of habit. Didn't feel like sleeping alone after sleeping near him for past three days"

"Past three days? "

So, she explained to him briefly and left to get ready. So did Alex.

Cedric felt his jealousy flaring, but more than that he felt guilt washing through him. Alex, who she had known only for few months was there for her. But he, her best friend for the past five years wasn't there for her when she needed him the most.

He felt angry at himself, but he didn't know what to do.

After they were ready, they left to breakfast and Cedric did not miss the way Alex snaked his arm around her waist. Alex and (Y/N) both knew it was just to support her weight and not depend too much on the crutch, but cedric wasn't so sure.
