Chapter 21 : Dalton's date

3rd Person POV :

Hogwarts looked more spectacular with all the decorations for the remembrance ball. Most people were completely happy, but few were just partially. Cedric Diggory was one of the few. He was so happy about going to the ball with Cho. But a part of him wanted to spend time with his best friend. He wanted to be the one going to the ball with his best friend, instead of Alex, even if they were going just as friends.

(Y/N) ( Y/L/N) too wasn't completely happy. There were two reasons why. One, she missed Cedric. Two, she wanted Alex to go with Katie. She was climbing down the stairs, thinking all these and worrying herself. But, once she saw Alex waving at her from the distance, with a warm smile on his lips, she stopped worrying. Concentrating on her thoughts and Alex, she forgot to concentrate on the last stair and the boy near the banister. She set her foot on the floor without seeing the last step, effectively slipping. She closed her eyes and waited for the fall to come but , like in every cliché story, it didn't and instead, two strong arms wrapped around her waist. (Y/N) felt goosebumps erupting everywhere on her body, once she felt Cedric's hands on her bare skin. She looked up to see his face, only to stare straightly into a pair of grey eyes filled with concern. Her heart started beating faster and she gulped. But, Cedric didn't see any of it as he was busy fussing over her. He made her stand straight and brushed the creases out of her dress.

Only then did he look at her completely. And, lord! Wasn't the view stunning?

"Wow shorty! You look beautiful-"

"As always!" Alex completed Cedric's statement.

She laughed.

"Why, thank you! You both look handsome too, if you ask me."

"Well, Thank you ....I guess!" Ced mocked her and Alex just laughed.

"Shall we?" she asked them.

"Where is Jessica and Dalton?"

"They both have already left with their dates."

"You know, I am really eager to see who his date is."

So, they left the common room.

Cedric went to collect Cho in the entrance of the Ravenclaw common room . (Y/N) and Alex walked to the great hall. On their way , they saw Fred who was going to the ball with Katie. To Alex, she looked perfect. With the white dress she was wearing, she looked like a bride and he was ready to marry her just then. To her, he looked like an angel sent from heaven. 'An angel that she could never have. ' She thought to herself.

"Hem-Hem" (Y/N) cleared her throat, bringing them both back to the world. They blushed as they realized they were staring.

"You look stunning!" He told her "Save a dance for me."

She blushed hard, and nodded with a shy smile. (Y/N) decided to tease them a little.

"Hey Freddie! You are looking just like you crawled from hell! You look hot!"

"Aww (Y/N/N)!" Fred decided to play along "You are making me blush harder than Messon made Katie blush! "

"Hey!" Katie protested and Alex blushed but the other two just laughed.

"We'll go in, shall we?"

As they entered the great hall, what they saw surprised them. Dalton was standing there, laughing with Terrence Higgs. They've always known Terrence to be the softer slytherin, but this was too much even for him. They've never seen him laugh.

Alex and (Y/N) excused themselves and went there. Dalton smiled nervously at them.

"Uh...hey (Y/N/N)...Alex" He nodded.

"So? Is he your date?"

"Yes, actually!" Dalton replied nervously, expecting his friends to leave.

Instead, (Y/N) just brought both of them into a hug, surprising them.

"I am happy for you both!" she said, and even Terrence laughed in relief.

"You could've told us. We're your friends. We're just gonna support you!"

"I was a bit afraid!"

"We're there for you both even if there is no one else." Alex told them. "Congrats, anyway!" He said patting Dalton's back and shaking Terrence's hands.

Both Dalton and Terrence thought, Dalton was so lucky to have friends like that!
