Chapter 14 : Rumors

3rd Person POV :

If there was one thing (Y/N) hated the most, it was rumors. And the hottest talk of Hogwarts now, was (Y/N)(Y/L/N) and Alexander Messon. There were many rumors, varying from they were dating, to they were having a fling, circulating the castle. But being in Hogwarts for five years and having a famous auror as her mother, (Y/N) had learned how to ignore or handle rumors. She wasn't worried about her reputation. But one thing she was worried about was, what Katie Bell would believe in. Alex just shrugged when (Y/N) voiced her thoughts but she felt like she had to do something!

(Y/N) felt so grateful for having Alex in her life. He helped her through her heartbreak. He was a great friend and a brother she always wanted. To him, she was the sister he never had.

(Y/N) didn't want to ruin Alex's chance with his crush. But if she believes in the rumors, then Alex was doomed. (Y/N) needed to make sure that Katie knew the truth.

How were rumors raised in the first place, do you ask?

Well, their sudden friendship was one reason. But the main reason was what happened the last night. Yes, the last night. News sure travels around fast. But when the situation itself takes place during dinner, in the great hall, then there is no need for it to spread. Well, I'll stop my ranting and tell you what happened.

(Y/N) fall asleep on Alex's shoulder. Cedric who turned to ask something to her, found her sleeping. He also noticed that a few strands of her hair had escaped the ponytail and fell before her eyes. He tucked it back behind her ear and Cho who turned to ask something to Cedric, smiled at his actions.

Cedric and Alex tried to wake her up but failed.

"Let her! She had a rough day." Jessica told them both.

"But how else are we going to take her back to the Common room?" Dalton, one of Cedric and (Y/N)'s other friend asked her.

"You are a wizard or what?" Jessica was asking him, but Alex interrupted them.

"Leave it to me!" he told them. He got up after transferring her head gently to Cedric's shoulders. After he steadied himself, he scooped her in his arms, carrying her bridal style to the common room.

"They are going to get together, soon!" Dalton exclaimed to the other three.

"We don't know that!" Jessica told him

"We'll see, won't we?"

"They look adorable together, though!" Cho told them and Cedric nodded in agreement, even though a part of him was burning in jealousy.

'Who doesn't get jealous when their best friend gets close to other people? I bet even (Y/N) feels this way when I am with Cho!' He thought to himself.

But seeing Alexander Messon carrying (Y/N)(Y/L/N) led many students to start doubts that turned to rumors.

Coming back to the present, (Y/N) had the perfect plan to make the truth known to Katie. And it helps when you have best friends in the Gryffindor team, doesn't it?

Fred and George weasley started speaking to Alicia spinnet after making sure that Katie bell was listening to their conversation.

"They are just rumors, leesh!" George told Alicia.

"Don't call me that George! And, are you sure!" She asked.

"Yeah! Hundred percent sure that it is just a rumor! " Fred confirmed.

"What is?" Katie asked them and the three smirked, subtly.

"That Alexander Messon and (Y/N/N) are dating!" George told her.

"What are they then?"

"Best friends, of course! People here will believe anything that isn't true!" Fred scoffed.

Katie just let out a soft "Oh", her mind already travelling back to the times she spent in library.

Alexander Messon, the cute and reserved Hufflepuff chaser. His Confidence when he spoke (which he does, rarely), his charm, his kindness everything made her adore him, even though she had spoken to him only twice in all her past four years in Hogwarts, that too in the library. The qudditch pitch when he was playing, and the library and the great hall were the only places where she saw him. His striking blue eyes, black hair and that handsome face made girls swoon over him. He was just two years older than her, but he was so tall compared to her. It's not like Cedric Diggory and Oliver Wood were the only handsome boys in Hogwarts, after all! But it was his smile that did something to her. It was his smile that made her melt and feel all mushy, inside. It was his smile that lit up his face and eyes and created a storm of butterflies inside her stomach.

Shaking her head, to clear the thoughts of a certain Hufflepuff chaser, she snapped back to reality, only to find the twins had already left.

"Looks like someone is drooling over a certain Alexander Messon!" asked Alicia, who was still with her.

"Oh, Shut it!" Katie told her, smiling and took off in the air, taking the quaffle with her!
