You found yourself standing back at his front door. Even though it was an ungodly hour of the night, and it was pouring rain — you didn't care. You'd rather push through the exhaustion, get drenched head to toe in rain even, if it meant you'd get answers. You rose a shaking hand to the tall and wide door, rapping at it a few times. Time seemed to slow as you waited for the door to open, and it did — revealing an all too familiar giant.
You almost didn't believe he was actually standing there until he spoke. He looked just in rough as shape as you — his eye bags dark, long hair tussled and greased, slight stubble beginning to show. It made your heart sink in your chest.
"You're here..." his baritone voice croaked, Adam's Apple bobbing as he swallowed hard. All you could do was nod eagerly, breath rapid at the sight of him.
His brows knit as he studied you, noting your wet state from the rain. He was hesitant to let you in, silent as he backed away from the doorway, giving you enough space to step in.
You were trembling with pure fear as you stumbled back into his home – a place you promised yourself you'd never return to. And although you had seen it all before, you gawked around like it was your first time again.
Your body was tense as you saw him circle around you, waddling off to stand in front of his wide-panned window. He studied the view as his mind was in a mental war, lips pressed tightly together as a look brewed behind his eyes.
You take careful tip-toe steps, keeping a safe distance between you a him. You didn't want to risk him touching you again, or worse, you caving and touching him instead. You knew what you came here for, and apologies was not it.
"Ben? Is that your name, your real name?" You finally asked, the words bluntly falling from your lips. You suck in a sharp breath, forcing yourself to look at him.
He kept his back faced to you, muscles and shoulders tensing as he took shallow breaths. A shadow was casted across his face in the dark of his apartment, the cool-blue moonlight pouring through the large windows.
"That...where did you learn that name from?" He questioned in response, his answer almost too calm for your liking. It made your stomach churn.
You gulp, opening and closing your mouth like a fish out of water, throat dry as sand. "The internet...you know, the place you get information from. Are you gonna answer my question or no?" You hiss through grit teeth.
He slowly turns to face you, his dark and exotic features drawing you in, eyes alluring with a burning gaze. "The internet? First, you disrespect my co-worker, and now you disrespect my privacy?" He spat in response.
You look away from him, shaking your head. "It's not private, the information is out in the public for a reason. So I'm asking you, why didn't you tell me." You repeat, taking a subconscious step towards him.
He remains silent.
"Why didn't you tell me? I told you so much about myself and you told me...told me nothing. You really can't act surprised that I got the answers you never gave me." You protest.
He lets out a low grunt, leaning towards you. "Because it's none of your business! You chose to open up to me, I didn't force you to. I'm not obligated to give you answers, that wasn't in our agreement." He chides.
