Chapter 3 (Hobbies)

       (Kelly POV)

       I wonder where Aria is, she said she would be here. Kelly thought as she stocked the shelves, and straightened up the store.

"Hey Kel, what's up?" Asked Dustin as he entered the store, closely followed by Shane. Dustin walks over to the counter and takes a seat, while Shane leans against it.

"Huh... Oh.. Hey guys, nothing much. Just waiting to see if a friend was showing up."

"Really, do we know this friend?" Asked Shane.

"Of course we do. We know all of Kelly's friends." Looking over at Kelly, Dustin notices that she has a look on her face that says he is wrong. "Right Kelly?" He asks with confusion lacing his voice.

"Well, there was this girl, last night that came into the store. We got talking and became friends."

"Cool when do we get to meet her?" Dustin asked, excited to make a new friend.

"You were supposed to meet her today, but she isn't here."

"Well did she tell you she would come?" Asked Shane.

"Yeah, she is new and wanted to meet you guys."Kelly responds before she pauses. Looking at her two friends, she begins to wonder where the third is. "Speaking of you guys, where's Tori?"

"She's coming." Answered Dustin as he hopped of the counter.

"She was surfing, so she is getting changed and then coming in." Answered Shane, finishing Dustin's sentence.

"How'd she do?" Kelly asked already knowing the answer. Tori is an amazing surfer and the only reason she asked this question was to know how Tori's feeling. When Tori is upset, or distracted she doesn't surf as good, as when she is happy, and focused.

"Great." Replied Shane.

"Yeah, but you should have seen this other girl. She was ....." Dustin didn't get to complete his sentence before Kelly smacks him on the back of his head. "Ow..Why'd you do that?" Dustin asks as he rubs his head.

"Because girls like to be treated with respect, not as a bone for a dog to drool over."

"I wasn't going to say anything like that, I was going to say she was an amazing wake boarder." Dustin whines as he continues to rub his head.

"Really who was she?" Kelly asked, wondering who the new wake boarder was. Not many girls wake boarded in Blue Bay Harbor, but then again not many surfed either.

"Don't know." Shane replied

"We've never seen her before though." Dustin answered with a shrug.

Kelly was about to ask another question, when the bell over the door rang.  Looking over at the door, Kelly saw a man about six foot, with black hair and brown eyes come in. He seems familiar. The man walked over to the counter, and smiled at Kelly.

"Are you Kelly?" He asked

"Yes, and you are?" Kelly asked.

"Alec North, Aria's brother." He answered holding out his hand for her to shake. Reaching over the counter, Kelly shook the man's hand with a smile.

"Nice to meet you Alec. Can I help you?" She asked, confused on why he was looking for her.

"Ree, wanted me to apologize for not being here. The ocean called and she couldn't resist." He told her with a bright smile.

"What do you mean the ocean called? I thought she did motocross." Kelly asked confused.

"She does, but she has many other hobbies."

"Like?" Kelly asked wanting to know more about her friend.

"Surfing, skateboarding, motocross, karate, technology, and wake boarding." He answers deep in thought. "I think that's all of them." He finishes with a shrug.

Kelly stands in her place in shock for a few minutes, which draws Shane and Dustin's attention. They walk over to their friend, and begin to worry when they see her expression. Her mouth is open wide, like a fish gulping for water, and her eyes are so big they look like they will roll out of her head.

"Kel are you okay?" Dustin asks, worried about his friend.

Hearing Dustin's worried voice, Kelly snaps back into her body. She shakes off the surprise, and changes the expression on her face.

"Yeah Dustin I'm fine. Just a little shocked." Kelly answered trying to reassure her friend.

"Why?" Asked Shane, wondering what news could have such a big impact on Kelly.

"I told her my sister's hobbies." They can be a little overwhelming. The man, known as Alec answers.

"Really? They can't be that bad." Replied Dustin.

"Surfing, skateboarding, motocross, technology, karate, and wake boarding." Alec rushes out in one breathe.

Dustin and Shane stand there in shock for a few seconds, before they gather their bearings.

"Well that certainly is a lot." Shane says, with surprise covering his voice.

"Yup, my sister likes to keep busy." Alec answers before, turning back to Kelly. "Anyway, I wanted to apologize again on my sister's behalf."

"It's no problem, but since she is not with me or you, where is she?" Kelly asked

"Oh, she's out wake boarding, with a war buddy of mine."

The three friends are once again thrown through a loop. The man in front of them is in the military. His sister is a wake boarder, probably the one Dustin saw, and she has many other hobbies.

Kelly is quick to apologize for not realizing. " I'm sorry I should have been more polite, I just didn't reali..."

Alec quickly cuts her off. "Hey no worries, how were you supposed to know." "Anyway I should probably be getting back to the beach, it was nice meeting you though." Alec calls as he leaves the store.

"Well I did not expect that." Shane says, once he recovered from his shock.

"Same here bro, same here." Dustin states, as he returns to his spot on the counter.

"Anyone else feel the urge to go to the beach?" Kelly asked. Each of the friends nod their head. Kelly quickly heads towards the back room, where John is stacking boxes.

"Hey John can you watch the store for me, while I go on break?"

John looks up from his work and responds in a relaxed tone. "Sure thing boss, I wouldn't mind."

"Thank  you so much I won't be long." Kelly says as she walks towards Dustin and Shane, with John following behind her.

"It's no problem, take as long as you like." John answers as he sits back in the chair behind the counter.

Shane, Dustin, and Kelly hurry out of the store and climb into Kelly's car. Kelly pulls out of the lot, and drives off to the beach.
