I tossed and turned, before I awoke again. There was only one person on my mind when the blur cleared from my eyes. Adora . I needed to talk to her. I needed to make sure that she was okay.
I got out of bed and eventually found her eating breakfast in the main dining hall of the pink haired ones palace and yes, it did annoy her when I called her that, which was exactly why I wasn't going to stop any time soon. Since Frosta had headed back to her ice castle a distance from us, Glimmer had ended up being the main one I teased, when I wasn't teasing Adora, of course.
I felt like I had been sleeping for a century, so I decided that it was about time for me to go and ask Adora what she was up to.
I went over to the dining table and sat down upon it, crossing my legs together as I did so.
"Hey Adora," I said, as a smile spread onto my face.
Adora looked up from her breakfast and glanced at me.
"Catra...do you have to sit right there?" she asked me.
"What? I'm not doing anything wrong," I replied with simple nonchalance, which caused the corner of Adora's lips to twitch up slightly.
The sun shone in through the window and brought out the lighter shades of blonde in Adora's hair. She ran a hand through her hair which clued me in to something.
Something was bothering her. Although I wasn't sure what it was, I knew that I was going to do what I had to find out. For now, though, I was going to make sure Adora was happy.
"I just wanted to spend the day with you!" I told her. "Come on, we were so caught up in fighting Horde Prime that we haven't really had a chance to just be..."
"Us? I know, Catra, but we can't just expect everything to go back to normal..." Adora began to say.
I rested my chin in the palm of my hand as my eyes stared into hers.
"And why the hell not?" I asked her. I sighed and promptly stood up from the table, then. "I mean... I'm your girlfriend now, Adora. It would be nice if you clued me in to what is going on inside your head, every once in a while," I said, as I gently poked Adora's forehead.
She smiled at first but soon gently grabbed my wrist, so she could move my hand away from her.
"I'm sorry, Catra, but I can't hang out today," Adora said.
I felt my heart drop into my stomach. I just knew that I couldn't let my anger get the best of me again.
"Okay, Adora, but we are going to hang out soon." I told her. I would make sure of it.
"Of course," Adora said, as a little light appeared in her eyes.
It was a beautiful day and the sky was a bright blue, but I supposed that I was going to have to spend some time with Scorpia. I hadn't seen her in a while, I had been wondering how she had been getting on. I knew that at one point I hadn't been the best friend to her but I was determined to change that. I supposed that Adora had inspired me to give people a shot even if most of the time I wanted to keep my guard up. I supposed I was slowly but surely learning to open up to people little by little. I was still upset about the fact that Adora couldn't hang out with me, though. It was difficult to just let something like that go, especially when my mind flickered back to everything that we had been through.
I supposed that it was simply time for some good old fashioned investigation. I needed to figure out what was going on inside Adora's head because she seemed as though she wanted to withhold information from me, even though we had once promised each other that we would always tell each other everything. I supposed that even Adora could have her secrets.
I decided that a good place to start would be the archer. So, I told Adora goodbye and wandered off in search of Bow.
I eventually found him training with his bow and arrow on the grounds outside. Glimmer was with him and Bow was clearly preoccupied, so I decided to talk to Glimmer instead.
"Hey, princess," I said, as I approached her.
She looked up at me through her thick eyelashes and smiled.
"Hi Catra. It's good to see you,"she told me.
"Likewise. I actually needed to ask you about something, though," I said.
Glimmer's eyebrow raised in response to that.
"What's up, Catra?" she asked me.
"Is everything okay with Adora?" I asked.
"Oh! There was sort of a loud thud last night but I'm sure it's nothing! Everything is a-okay!" Glimmer said.
As much as I wanted to believe Glimmer's words, I couldn't help but grow interested.
"So you have no idea what said loud thud came from?" I asked her.
"I have to be honest with you, Catra, I really don't," Glimmer said.
I exhaled in slight frustration but I knew this wasn't all bad. It just meant that I was going to have to figure things out for myself.
Glimmer and I glanced back to Bow momentarily, to see that he got a bullseye.
"Well done, Bow!" Glimmer yelled out to him.
"Good work, Bow!" I exclaimed.
Bow's eyes glanced around until they settled on me and he smiled.
He eventually made his way over to us, which was such a relief because I was concerned that we could have been there until the sky turned black. I had things to do, figuring out what was going on with Adora was one of those things. The next was checking up on Scorpia, so I said goodbye to Bow and Glimmer and made my way back inside the palace in search of Scorpia.
