"Adora..." I heard a voice speak to me, as I was deep in my peaceful slumber. "Adora!" the voice said again and then sighed in frustration. "Adora! Wake up!" she yelled, as she threw a pillow at me.
My eyes fluttered open, then and I looked towards her.
"I'm up," I grumbled into the pillow, as I sat up in my bed and rubbed at my eyes. "Catra?" I asked. I felt pretty disorientated from the whole being woken up by a pillow thing and Catra had thrown that pillow hard.
Catra gave me a slightly shy smile, then.
"Morning, sleeping beauty. Listen, I needed to get you up. I...made you breakfast," she said.
I then glanced towards the tray that had been placed down on the table in my room and smiled.
"Catra, you didn't have to-" I began to say, but Catra interrupted.
"Don't mention it. I just saw Glimmer and Perfuma cooking this morning and it smelt really good. I knew I had to bring you some," she said.
"Awh!" I said, as I took a bite out of one of the syrupy pancakes, "It is so cute to see you doing good things for other people."
Catra rolled her eyes.
"Don't get too used to it," she said.
As I smiled at her, though, Catra couldn't help but smile back at me.
"I just knew that you would be hungry. Of course, it's not all yours. I thought maybe we could eat together," Catra said, as her cheeks reddened slightly.
I felt my spirits lift a little, then.
"Really?" I asked her.
"Yeah. I thought it would be nice or whatever," Catra said.
I felt the corner of my mouth twitch up a little, then. It really was sweet of Catra to be doing all these nice things for me. I couldn't help but smile.
Not long after that, Catra's tough guy expression softened a little and she smiled back at me.
I pat the space on the bed beside me and Catra came to join me, so the two of us could dig into our pancakes.
"Thank you for breakfast," I said, as I hugged Catra quickly, which caused her eyes to widen slightly as she continued to chew on her mouthful of pancake. "We'll eat now and then we have to get moving, Catra. We have things to do," I reminded her.
Catra grumbled, as she gulped down her bite of pancake.
"I wish I could just spend the day with you," she said, "But no...you have to go and play the hero again. I get it."
I felt my eyebrows crinkle together slightly then, as I frowned at her.
"Catra, come on. Don't be this way. We have to go and help Entrapta and the rest of our friends and you know it," I told her.
Catra merely sighed, then.
"Yeah. I guess you're right," she said, as she smiled back at me.
"So don't be so sad," I said, as I placed the breakfast tray down on our nearby desk and began to tickle Catra, which caused her to shriek with laughter.
"Stop it! You're torturing me!" she exclaimed, as she continued to giggle.
I eventually stopped and simply beamed at her.
"What are you thinking about?" Catra asked me, as her eyes flickered with curiosity.
"I'm just thinking about how amazing you are," I said simply.
"No...that's all you," Catra said, as she gently poked me in the chest and then sprinted away from the bed before I could tickle attack her again.
I opened my arms and Catra wandered over to me a little hesitantly.
"Come on, Catra. I just want a cuddle," I said, as I gave her puppy-dog eyes.
Catra sighed and then wandered over to me, only for me to strike again!
"You have no mercy!" Catra yelled, as I continued to attack her with the tickles. She chuckled.
"Er, is everything okay in here?" Bow asked.
"Yeah! No one is being killed are they?" Glimmer asked.
"She's bullying me! Stop her!" Catra said.
I simply tickled her again, which caused Glimmer and Bow to sigh but then smirk with amusement.
"Alright, alright, I'm done now," I promised, as I got off the bed and offered a hand out for Catra to take. She simply glanced at it for a moment, before she shrugged and took my hand, so the two of us could leave our room and get ready for the day ahead.
"You know," Catra said to me, once she had finished brushing her teeth, "I kind of like this little hair poof here. It's cute," she said, as she gently pat it. She then smiled affectionately at me.
I merely gazed at her and Catra gazed right back, until it felt as though we were in some kind of staring contest.
"I know you. You want something. What's up?" I asked her.
"I don't want anything. I just...felt like being nice. I don't know. You guys are all so kind to one another and I want to be good back," Catra said.
I felt myself smile again, then. That was really sweet of her.
"Well thank you, Catra. You already know I always have your back," I reminded her.
Catra nodded, as her eyes flashed with appreciation.
It then was time for the two of us to leave the palace and head on outside. We had traps to set up in case any of the pesky robots decided to show themselves again, which they no doubt would.
While Catra and I worked together, a robot soon began to make their way over to the two of us.
Catra hissed at it, as she grabbed her whip.
In the meantime, I grabbed my sword.
"Stop! Stop! I'm on your side," the robot said.
I narrowed my eyes at it, as I felt pretty skeptical.
"I don't trust it," I said.
Catra turned to me and her eyes flickered with curiosity.
"Adora..." she said, "I'll check its wiring. I think I remember, from when Entrapta showed me a while back, what's supposed to look like."
I gave a nod.
Catra checked the robot, then.
"Okay, we're all clear," she said, as she gave me the thumbs-up.
