chapter 10: rooftop

[FLASHBACK : HYUNJIN]

Ever since the library date, you and Hyunjin had started dating. But he asked one thing of you, to keep it a secret. You found this quite confusing because he seemed totally fine with displaying it on the bus, but things changed when you got to school. You just speculated that it was because no one else from your school rode on that bus. During the day you didn't see Hyunjin often, but when you did he would make sure to look at you like he was signaling you.

Hyunjin walked around at lunch, he didn't see you. Where is she now? Hyunjin had recently observed that you would disappear during lunch quite frequently. He walked to the vending machine in the hall to get an orange juice. He sighed, punching in the numbers. That's when he saw you walking down the hall, you seemed to be looking around like you were up to something. What's she doing? Hyunjin wondered. You walked down another hall out of sight. Gosh Y/N, what are you up to now? he fished the orange juice out the drop slot of the machine before trailing you.

He watched from afar as you walked up the stairs leading to the school's rooftop. Is she crazy? That place is off-limits, the truth is Hyunjin had been up there many times, he just didn't take you as a rule breaker. Most kids would go up there to skip class or smoke, so he was curious about why you would go up there during lunch. You quietly opened the big metal door, then cautiously closed it behind yourself. Should I go up there? he stood at the other end of the hallway. It's gonna kill me if I don't know, he paced. Maybe she just wants to be alone? he thought. Still, it wouldn't hurt if I checked right? Hyunjin stared at the metal door. He waited a minute. That's it, I'm going up.

He opened the door slowly, peering out. The sky was a bright blue that day, the sun was shining brightly, with little to no clouds. He stepped out, the door closing behind him. It took him a second before he saw you laying down on your side next to the brick wall, your feet facing him. He then became more surprised, does she not own undershorts?!, you were basically flashing your underwear. He slowly walked over to check if you were dead or not. You were sleeping peacefully, earbuds in your ears, using one of your arms as a pillow. He smiled, it reminded him of when you fell asleep on his shoulder on the bus. That was the first time he realized how much he liked you.
"You must be uncomfortable," he whispered to himself as he removed his school jacket. He sat down against the brick wall, slowly moving your head onto his legs. Once your head was secured in his lap, he placed his jacket over your bottom skirt area. He then took the earbud from your exposed ear and put it in his. So this is what you've been doing, sleeping? Hyunjin chuckled. He crossed his arms and slowly closed his eyes, letting himself rest with you.

You slowly opened your eyes. Your phone alarm was going off. Class in ten minutes!! the notification read. It wasn't soon before you realized you were in the presence of someone else. You turned your head up to see Hwang Hyunjin sleeping. You were surprised to see that he had come all way up to the rooftop. You lifted your head, realizing he put his jacket on you. Should I wake him up? you hesitated. You got an idea. You pulled out your phone, starting a timer for five minutes. This will give him five minutes to get to class, you moved his jacked onto his lap. You were about to get up when he suddenly moved forward. He placed his lips on yours. You were shocked, this was the first time you kissed him. You held the kiss for a bit longer, the music still playing. He put his left hand on your arm, lightly holding you. Slowly, you pulled away, his left hand placed on your cheek.
"I have to go to class." you smiled at him, placing the second earbud in his ear. You stood up.
"That should wake you up in five minutes, just give me my phone at the end of the day okay?" you began walking over to the door. As you opened it Hyunjin yelled something out to you.
"Where undershorts next time!" he said.
"I promise!" you smiled at him, the door closing behind you.
