Chapter 8

I walk up with Madi asleep in my bed next to me. I smile knowing today is the court date of officially leaving Finn. He may get some custody but as long as he is away from me I am fine. I quietly get up and head into my bathroom to get ready letting her sleep. I throw on some jeans a nice blue shirt and curl my hair. I check my phone and see it's already 8 o'clock and I don't have to be there till 9:30.

I walk out to the kitchen for breakfast and my mom already eating. "Morning Clarke," she says. "Morning also Madi is in my room asleep of she's not up before I leave I have all her stuff set out in her room," I tell her. "Clarke Madi will be fine and I will pick her up at 4:30 after my shift," she replies. "I know but this is the actual first time she's going to school without me dropping her off," my mom cuts me off. "Clarke stop worrying it will be fine," she says. Soon enough Madi comes out and sits with me. "Did you sleep well?" I ask her. She just nods and smiles.

"Madi, I'm leaving," I say putting my shoes on. Madi comes running down the hall into my arms. "I Luv you, mommy," she says. "I love you more," I tell her kissing the side of her head. My mom comes over and hugs me before I head to Arkadia's courthouse.

I arrive 5 minutes early with my lawyer Anya. "You ready for this?" Anya asks. "Yes, I can't let him hurt me anymore especially with Madi," I say. We continue waiting inside for Finn to show up. It already 9:40 and Finn hasn't showed up. Finally, at 9:45 he showed up.

Octavia's POV

I'm in my classroom waiting for my afternoon students to start showing up. "Octavia," I turn around from my computer and see principal Jaha standing there with a muscular looking man. "Hey Jaha how's it going?" I ask shaking his hand. At this school all of the staff are super close. "I'm doing good I just wanted to introduce our new football coach and P.E. teacher to the staff while showing him around," he says.

 "Hi I'm Octavia Blake very nice to meet you," I say shaking the other man's hand. "Lincoln Woods nice to meet you too," He says meeting my eyes for the first time. He has brown eyes and has tattoos lining his arms.

After the introduction my students started coming in. Soon enough I see Madi come in with a different lady I'm not familiar with. "Hi Madi," I say walking over to her. "Hi Ms.Blake," she says with a smile. "Who did you come with today?" I ask her. "My grandma," she says. I turn towards her grandma.

 "Hi I'm Ms.Blake Madi's teacher it's nice to meet you Mrs.Griffn." "Please call me Abby," she says shaking my hand. Madi runs off to play with Charlotte another student of mine. "I'll be picking her up after-school her mom has stuff going on," Abby says. "Okay sounds good just call the school if anything changes," I say.

The day went by fast and so did the after-school program. Madi is still here while all the other kids have been leaving and it's already 4:45. "Is my grandma coming?" Madi asks. "I'm sure she is I can ask you mom if you would like?" She nods and stands patiently waiting with me. I remembered I have Clarke's number on my phone from meeting her yesterday at the bar. I decided to try and call her before I tell Madi anything.

 I hit the call button and after 3 rings she answers. "Hello,?" "Hey Clarke it's Octavia." "Oh hey Octaiva listen I don't have much time I am at a meeting-" I cut her off before she can finish that sentence. "Do you know when your mom is coming to get Madi? She is the last one here and is starting to get a little worried," I say biting my nails.

Clarke's POV

The court decided that we would take a small break until 5. So far things have been working in my favor and Finn hasn't been that interested in getting Madi. Just as we leave the courtroom I feel my phone buzzing in my pocket. I pulled it off to see it was Octavia calling. "Hello," I say. "Hey Clarke it's Octavia." "Oh hey Octaiva listen I don't have much time I'm in a meeting-," I was quickly cut off by Octavia. "Do you know when your mom is coming to get Madi? She is the last one here and is getting a little worried, " She asks.

 Crap my mom probably got held for overtime. "My mom must have had over time. I don't know what I can do I am in court for the divorce and I don't know when it will end-," I was cut off again. "How about I take her home with me to hang out and when you're done call me okay? I have a booster seat in my car from my cousin's son." "Are you sure? I mean I can always try and call," I say. "Clarke she will be fine I'll text you my address," I hear Octavia say. "Oh my gosh, Octavia you are a lifesaver thank you so much!" "It's not a problem she is a sweet girl anyway." Octavia and I talk about the details until I have to go back in.

Octavia's POV

I just got off the phone with Clarke after deciding to let me take care of Madi while she is in court. "Madi how would you like to spend some time with me?" I ask her. "Really?" She asks. I nod as she smiles grabbing my hand. I turn off all the lights and grab my bag before leaving with Madi. "Can I color a picture when we get to your house?" Madi asks. "Yes you can and I can give you a snack too," I tell her helping her into my

I'm currently coloring with Madi when my phone was buzzing. "Hello?" "Hey, Octavia it's Clarke." "Oh hey Clarke how'd go?" I ask. "It went pretty good I'll explain more when I get there," She says. "Alright, I will send you my address," I say. "Thanks so much, Octavia," Clarke replies. She hangs up. "Madi your mom's on her way to come get you," I tell her. "Okay," she says putting her markers away. She comes walking over with a picture she drew in her hands. "This for you," she says smiling. 

"Aw, thanks Madi I love it! You know what why don't we put it on my fridge for everyone to see," I tell her. She nods and smiles helping me hang it on the fridge. Soon enough there's a knock on the door. Madi goes running to get her shoes while I get the door. "Hey, she's just getting her shoes on why don't.you.come in," I tell Clarke as she steps inside. "Okay, was she good? She can be a troublemaker sometimes." "She was fine she colored and had some crackers," I say as Madi comes down the hall with her bag and pictures.

 "Mommy," she yells running into her arms. I smile seeing how much Madi looks like Clarke. "Hi pumpkin did you have fun?" She nods. "Can you say thank you?" Clarke asks Madi. "Thank you, Ms.Blake," She says making me smile. "Your welcome Madi," I say smiling. We talk for a bit longer before they leave. That little girl has already stolen my heart.

Hey guys! This is probably the longest chapter I have ever written before. Crazy right? Anyway, I haven't seen the new episodes of the 100 and don't plan on it because of what they did to Bellamy. Enough of the sad stuff it's almost Friday! I get Monday off from school but I am working and have dance so there might not be an update Monday but I will try and get one beforehand.
