Clarke’s POV

It’s officially been three months since Bellamy left for deployment. We try to do video chats once a week but some nights it doesn’t always work out. Bellamy writes letters to us which always makes Madi’s day. Madi keeps the letters in her room and loves to write him back. It’s hard not having Bellamy around especially during the school week. Lately, I have been working seven to three-thirty almost every day except weekends which means I can’t take Madi to school. My mom has been helping by taking her in the mornings while I work.

Today is Friday, my day off which means I can take Madi to school for the first time in a while. I have been saving up personal days so I can start having more days like these. Madi is super excited because it’s also the night Bellamy is supposed to video call. The video calls are her favorite part of the week.

Madi had spent all of yesterday and Wednesday homesick. She felt better yesterday but I didn’t want to risk her getting others sick. I had to work the past two days so she spent the day with my mom and Kane while I was at work. Murphy and Raven spent a little bit of time with her last night before I got home which helped her feel better.

I wake up with Madi jumping on the bed and Stella barking at her. “Mommy wake up,” she says, jumping on me. “I’m awake, I’m awake,” I tell her. “Morning Mommy,” Madi says, getting off the bed and running off. I check my phone and see it’s nine-thirty. I get up and head to the kitchen where Madi and Stella are playing together.

“Madi, what do you want for breakfast?” I ask her. “Pancakes!” she says excitedly. I smile and grab the pancake mix and ingredients. “I help,” Madi says, grabbing her stool. “Alright, remember what you do?” I ask her. She nods her head as I hand her the eggs to crack. “I did it!” she says excitedly after she cracked them. “Good job sweetie,” I say, giving her a high five.

After breakfast, I got Madi ready for school before getting myself ready. “Mommy, we call daddy tonight?” Madi asks as I pack her school bag. “Yep, we’ll call him tonight before you go to bed,” I tell her. “Yay!” She yells running off to the living room. “Madi, where's your letter you wrote for me to send to daddy?” I ask her to look through a stack of papers on the table.

“Over here,” Madi yells from the living room. I go into the living room and see her holding it up. “Here, let's fold it so we can put it in an envelope,” I tell her. “I do it,” she whines. “I wanna put it in the envelope,” Madi wines. “Okay but no winning otherwise we’ll come home to take a nap after school.” “Sorry, mommy. Love you,” She says cutely. “I love you to pumpkin,” I say, kissing the top of her head.

When we arrived at the school I could tell Madi was super excited to get back there. “Ready?” I ask her. “Yes,” she says smiling. I unbuckle Madi from her car seat and help her out of the car. Madi walks to the door and pulls it open running inside. “Auntie O, I’m back,” Madi says excitedly, hugging her. “I’m so glad!” Octavia says. Madi puts her bag in her cubby before heading off to play. “I’m guessing she got you up early?” Octavia asks.

“Of course, she was excited to come back this morning instead of staying home all day,” I reply. “I’m glad she’s feeling better, she is normally the most talkative so it was pretty quiet without her,” Octavia says smiling. “I believe it, she talks all the time at home,” I say with a laugh.

While Madi was at school I cleaned up the house and got grocery’s from the store. On my way back from the store I heard my phone buzzing in the cup holder next to me. “Hello?” I say answering. “Hey, Clarke I was just calling to see how Madi was feeling,” my mom says. “She’s a lot better, she went back to school today,” I respond. “That’s great, I did have something I wanted to tell you,” She says. “Kane and I are engaged.”

“Mom, that's amazing, I’m happy for you,” I say shocked. “Thank you sweetie and I just want you to know that I’m not replacing Kane for your father in any way,” She tells me. “Mom dad would want you to be happy, I’m seriously happy for you,” I say. “When do you call Bellamy next?” she asks changing the subject.

“We’re face-timing him tonight and then he’s going to let me know when he can hopefully facetime again,” I say letting out a breath. “Clarke I know it’s hard but you’re doing amazing and it won’t be long until you’re reunited again I’m sure of it,” she tells me. “Thanks, mom,” I say, pulling into the driveway. “Alright I’ll let you go I have to head in for my shift,” my mom says. “Bye," I say hanging up.

I brought everything inside and put them away before heading to get Madi from school since it was already 3:30. Bellamy is calling around five so it gives me at least two hours to make supper and bath Madi.

"Mommy, look I painted a picture," Madi says running up to me as I walk in. "I love it, sweetie," I say as she hands it to me. "She was full of energy, I seriously don't understand how she has this much energy," Octavia says with a laugh. "I don't either but she will wake up with this energy," I say laughing.

After we got home Bell texted saying he would call in an hour. I haven't told Madi yet otherwise she would go crazy and not behave. Right now I'm preparing supper while Madi picks her Pj's for bed. "Mommy, I found my PJ's," Madi yells from her room. "Okay let me put the pizza in and I'll be in," I yell back. "Madi go shut the fence so I can let Stella outside!" "Okay mommy," she yells back run to get her shoes. Stella is right behind her following her everywhere.

After I placed the pizza in the oven I looked over and Stella was whining about Madi being outside. "I'm back mommy," Madi says.
"Alright I'm going to let Stella out then we can watch Mickey mouse," I tell her. "Yay! But when daddy calling?" She asks. "In a bit, be patient, remember he'll call when he can," I remind her.

Two hours later after we finished eating my phone started buzzing and I knew it was Bellamy. "Hey beautiful," He says as his smiling face pops up. "Hey handsome, how's it going over there?" I ask. "It's been good but I miss my girls," he says. "Hold on, Madi daddy's on the phone," I say, opening her door. "DADDY!I miss you!" Madi says her face lights up. "I miss you too pumpkin and your mommy," he says. "Guess what I saw auntie O today and we painted," Madi says excitedly.

"Awesome sweetie, I've been reading your letters and I sent mine out this morning," he tells her. "We sent it out this morning since I had the day off and she even wrote her own letter without my help," I tell him as Madi yawns. "Someones a little tired from getting up early this morning," I say as Madi snuggles into my side. "I can tell. What time did she get up?" He asks. "She was up at five then at six then slept till nine-thirty but she was up till eight last night which she's normally in bed by then," I reply.

As we continue talking, Madi ends up falling asleep. I tuck her in as Bellamy blows her a kiss before closing her door. "I found out I might not be back till at least May this morning," Bellamy says changing the subject. "I guess it's better than waiting a whole year to see you," I say with a sad smile. "I know, I wish I could be there with you guys! I miss everyone but I especially miss waking up with you and Madi in the mornings," He says.

"We both miss you too! I miss everything, especially waking up in your arms," I say. "I'm so  in love with you,Princess" He tells me, making me smile. "I'm so in love with you too, Bell," I reply smiling. "I heard Madi was sick this week from O," he says, changing the subject. "Yeah she caught the stomach bug so I'm just hoping she didn't pass it along. I felt bad for not being able to stay home with her but I couldn't get anyone to cover. She was with my mom during the week but-"

"Hey, you're doing amazing, stop stressing, you're an amazing mom! I sometimes wonder how I ended up with someone so amazing and wonderful like you! I have a million different reasons why I love you and being such an amazing person is one of them!" He says it makes me tear up. "I love you so dam much!" I say wiping my tears. "I love you so dam much too!"
