It seemed like eternity. Longer than eternity. For a Gilmore to remain silent this long must have been a world record.

"Mom, you heard-" Lorelai cut her off.

"Yeah, yeah, kid I did. Guess your news kinda trumps Luke and I."

"Mom, I never meant to. I don't even know how....I mean I get how this happened but I never expected it to."

Lorelai lay a hand on Rory's shoulder and pulled her in for a hug. "It'll be alright. You and me...we got this."

They sat for a while just soaking in the new day together. A day that had already brought so much newness. Actually not needing words but just sitting together reassured Rory that she would in fact be ok.

"So it's what's his name's, isn't it? Peter...Payne...P-p. I got nothin'," Lorelai said in soft voice.

Rory pulled her face up from Lorelai's shoulder. "It was Paul, mom. Paul. And no. Not Paul. I mean mathematically it would more likely be Wookie's but...." Rory trailed off, looking off into the distance towards Luke's.
Softly she continued, "I mean I saw...was was...I was with Logan...."

Lorelai pulled her back in close to her. "I kinda figured. You two can't quit each other....a little too Notebook-esque even for me. But, I digress.....like I said it will be alright. Donuts and pancakes make everything better...what ya say we head over to Luke's? I mean I do have an in with the owner."

Rory laughed a bit and for the first time she actually knew things would be ok. Her mom did this. She can do this. And truthfully she knew there was no better place than Stars Hollow to do this....

Lorelai pulled Rory up to her feet and they walked arm in arm to Luke's.

"Don't say anything to Luke yet please. I just want this to be ours for a bit," Rory said, pulling her mom back from the door.

"Ours? Honey, of course. But honestly, we may need expand this circle of knowledge soon ...because ya know Logan may need to be made aware...and Luke may notice the immense amount of morning sickness and not drinking coffee. Just between us, especially in Stars Hollow, isn't really a thing."

Rory nodded. She knew she was right. "Logan does not need to know. This isn't anything he would need right now. He's....getting married....soon....this is not what he needs."

"I feel like I should pull the whole two to tango speech out. But I know you know that...and kid, I've been there and trust me, hiding it from people who should be a part of it....not a good plan. But yes, between us for now. You got it."

Lorelai pulled open the door to Luke's. She waltzed to the counter, poker face on, showing no evidence of the monumental, life altering conversation they just had.

She hugged Luke and went to whisper in his ear. "All the pancakes and donuts you have....." She pulled back, kissing her husband.

"And here I thought you were coming to tell me you love me....,"he smirked.

"Congratulations!" Rory announced, "Is Step-daddy the proper term now?"

"I mean since I normally go with Daddy..." Lorelai started with laugh.

Luke waved her off smiling and shaking his head at her quite inappropriate insinuation. "Donuts and pancakes coming right up. Coffees on the counter. Grab your cups."

Luke walked into the back and Lorelai grabbed their cups and filled her with coffee and Rory's with Cola. She winked at Rory and they sat down at their usual table ready for the feast to begin.
