Arriving back at Logan's apartment brought new challenges Rory never thought she would experience, at least not until her more geriatric years. Waiting for the wheelchair so she could get out of the car, slowly wheeling their way to the elevator and then into the apartment. One thing was for sure- the only thing that would be fast in her life for a while would be the talking in the conversations with Lorelai.
Logan pushed open the door, turning Rory's wheelchair backwards to help lift it over the elevated doorway. As she was turned forward upon entering the apartment, her eyes lit up as she saw Finn, Colin and Robert standing there to greet them. Rory looked back at Logan with a smile.
"They were just so excited to see you- I couldn't tell them no." Logan shrugged and smiled back at Rory.
Rory stood to get from the wheelchair to her new home for the next few months- the bed. Logan kissed her forehead and excused himself to the kitchen so he could get Rory some bedside snacks ready.
"A few quick hugs are alright, guys..infact I would be disappointed if I didn't get them." she said, acknowledging Finn, Colin and Robert's painfully obvious trepidation about touching her. They nodded, and embraced Rory one at a time.
"Gave us quite a scare. Glad you are alright. Not sure what we would have done-" Colin whispered in Rory's ear as he hugged her.
Rory leaned into the embrace. "Wasn't my finest moment." Rory closed her eyes tightly, the memory of the pain she felt when she saw how much the incident at Max affected Logan still fresh in her mind. Finn began to talk, stirring her back to reality.
"Love, you didn't have to do all that to steal my spotlight, I would have shared it with you," Finn interjected, throwing his arm around Rory, as Colin stepped back from his hug. Rory giggled, she could always count on Finn to lighten the mood.
"I heard all about your antics at the hospital. I think your position in the spotlight is secure." Rory winked at Finn, who kissed her on the cheek as he pulled back from their hug.
Robert was holding an Amazon box, as he stepped up to Rory. He set it on the bed to her left. "So, its a pregnancy pillow." His statement came out more like a question, but he continued. "The reviews said it was the best one, honestly I have no idea but I figured if you had to be in bed so much you may as well be comfortable. If it's not the right one, I can get a different one. I just figured you would need it is all." He shrugged his shoulders, and it was evident to all those in the room that this show of sentiment was not comfortable to Robert. But Rory, she seemed to bring it out of him.
Rory pulled him by his shoulders into an embrace and his body relaxed. "It's perfect..I was just thinking about how I would need one. Truly so thoughtful."
Rory sat down on the side of the bed, as Logan appeared with a tray full of all the snacks Rory would have picked for herself. "Ah ah ah missy, you need to be laying in bed. Not sitting." He set the tray on the bedside table and began to assist Rory in getting the pregnancy pillow comfortable and into the correct position. She looked over at the snacks.
"Pop Tarts, red vines, twinkies, cheese puffs, AND potato chips. You have been talking to my mom I see."
"It was Lorelai approved. And there is a large water just to wash it all down." Logan stood up, seemingly checking off a mental check list of all the things Rory was supposed to do to insure the safety of her and Ollie.
While Logan was mentally running through his Rory check list, Finn walked up to him and propped his elbow on his shoulder. "So mate, are you gonna tell her the good news or should we?" Logan looked nervously at the guys and then back to Rory.
Rory's eyes scanned the room, going from Logan to Finn to Colin to Robert and back again. "Well, come out with it guys."
Logan cleared his throat and sat down next to Rory on the bed. He lovingly placed a hand on her growing belly. "So, I don't have to if you don't want me to but they asked me to come into the office today. The new merger is complete and they are officially putting the company in my name and I have to sign a bunch of documents and -"
"Take a breath, I'll be fine. I have the quintessential Gilmore snacks, my cell phone, this awesome pregnancy pill-" It was then that Rory noticed the sleeping bags stacked in the corner, oddly reminiscent to the ones she saw on the Life and Death brigade outing Logan had taken her on. "I'm not staying alone, am I?"
"You really do take me as a perpetual rule breaker, don't you?" Logan chuckled, and bent over to kiss Rory. "I mean doctor's orders and all....figured I would give following rules a try."
"It's fine, really you won't be missing much besides my bed exercises and turning from to side...but inquiring minds want to know- why the sleeping bags?"
Finn stepped forward, tapping Logan on the chest. "I'll take this one. Totally my idea. Figured if you had to be on bed rest, we could have a slumber party of sorts."
Rory pursed her lips together and scrunched her nose. "Slumber party....during the day....sounds like the best use of my bed rest to me." She smiled, and watched as the uncertainty of whether she would like the sleepover Finn turn into smiles on all four men's faces.
Finn, Colin and Robert began setting up their sleeping bags on the floor around Rory's bed, literally surrounding her on all available sides. Logan grabbed his laptop bag off the kitchen island, and slung it over his shoulder. He knelt down next to the side of the bed Rory was on. He kissed her long and soft. Sitting back, he just stared into her eyes. "It's only ever been you, Ace. I need you in my life. I always knew but- the thought of you not being her, by my side." He closed his eyes briefly and shook his head, Rory assumed he too was reliving the moment he found her on the bathroom floor at Max's. "Just don't go anywhere, I will be a few hours."
Rory squeezed his hand tightly, "That's a long way to go for I love you." Logan stood, blowing a kiss to Rory and left the apartment.
"Now boys, what do you want to do at our slumber party?" She reached over and grabbed the Red Vines, twirling one in the air.
Finn propped himself up on his elbows. "I have been dying to watch Gossip Girl. I've heard great things...." Rory chuckled. A pillow came flying across the bed from Robert, hitting Finn in the face. "I heard it from Priscilla or Petunia or Paisley...some P girl at the club was taking about it and it sounded good."
"Of course YOU would get TV recommendation from a girl who wouldn't sleep with you." Colin sat up and turned at Finn. Everyone was laughing. This was just what Rory needed to take her mind off the dullness of her current situation, and keep her mind from wandering back to the thoughts that she and Ollie could have died.
