I waited patiently on my bed, in my new dress with black ballet flats and a cute tan purse Pippa let me borrow, as well as a red set of lingerie I bought for tonight. It was currently 5:53pm, 8 minutes late than Dustin said he would pick me up. Our reservation was at 6:00. I turned on my phone, hoping there was a message explaining why he was running late, but no such luck.
Pippa had left an hour ago, so I was alone in the dorm, trying my best to convince myself I was not being stood up. 8 minutes is nothing, I only need to worry once its been half an hour.A knock sounded at the door and I jumped up from my bed, a little too excited. I twisted the knob and opened the door revealing... Isaac?
"Uh, is now a bad time?" He sighed, his eyes running up and down my outfit, catching on my chest.
"Hey!" I called out, grabbing his attention.
"I'm sorry." He laughed. "But what do you expect."
"I expect you to explain why you're here, maybe?" I suggested, ignoring the effect Isaac's attention had on me. I was about to go on a date with Dustin, I did not need the chills that came with Isaac's gaze raking over my outfit."I don't know. Just wanted to hang out I guess." He pushed past me into the dorm, looking over Pippa's bed.
"She's not here." I explained. "And to answer your previous question, now is a bad time. I'm about to go on a date."
Isaac's eyes darkened, his nostrils flaring slightly before he composed himself. "Uh-huh." He hummed. "With who?"
"You don't need to know." I stated matter-of-factly."No need to get hostile." He rolled his eyes. "We're friends, it's a simple question."
"You've never met him." I muttered, walking up to him. "And I don't necessarily want you to."
I circled around him and placed my hands flat on his back, pushing him towards the door. He allowed me to.
"You're embarrassed of me?" He joked. "Don't want your boyfriend to know about your lowlife friends?"I stopped where I was and waited for Isaac to turn to me.
"I'm not embarrassed. You and Dustin are just-""Dustin?" He scowled.
"Yes, you and Dustin just wouldn't get along."
"Dustin is a dumbass name." He laughed. "I knew a guy called Dustin once. Fucking hate that little shit."
"Wow, that's so cool. Really interesting." I spat, sarcasm laced through my words. "You should go tell that story to someone who is not me.""What time was he supposed to pick you up?" He asked calmly.
"Quarter to 6." I sighed.
"Its now 6:08." He noted.
"What?!" I gasped. I pulled out my phone and sure enough it was 6:08. Underneath the time was a message from Dustin that simply read, "babe, Im really sorry, but something came up. I promise I'll explain later.""Dammit." I growled. Isaac grabbed the phone out of my hand and read the message. "Hey! Ever heard of privacy?"
"Thats a dick move." He noted, placing the phone back in my hand."He wouldn't cancel unless whatever came up was important." I sighed.
I flopped back onto my bed, my dress all of a sudden feeling constricting and tight. I was really looking forward to this date.
"Get changed." Isaac demanded as he stepped into the hallway. "We are going to hang out." With that, he closed the door, leaving a smile on my face that I deeply resented, yet couldn't stop.
