The sun started to set, the sky turned bright orange as the the kids running around the trailer park slowly tired themselves out. The adults stood around the barbecue talking as Pippa, Isaac, and I sat on the gravel road finishing off our colourful ice pops.
"Finally!" Pippa exclaimed as she threw away both of our ice pop sticks. "Tommy and the other shit birds stopped hogging the sprinkler."
I laughed as she ripped off her clothes to reveal a modest swimsuit and ran bare foot to the grass patch the sprinkler sprayed onto. Isaac stood up and dusted off his shorts, before reaching a hand out for me.
"Come on." He invited. I ignored his hand, standing up beside him and following to the sprinkler.
I stood just on the edge of the waters reach, watching as Isaac pulled his shirt over his head and stood with Pippa, each of them spreading their arms out and letting the cold water spray over them. The sprinkler had turned the grass surrounding it muddy and Isaac and Pippa avoided that spot, letting the water shoot over it and onto them in a light mist.
A smirk slowly appear on Isaac's face, before he tackled Pippa to the mud-soaked ground. Her screech echoing throughout the park.
"You jerk!" She cried, her voice angry but her smile giving her away. Pippa grabbed his ankle and yanked, forcing Isaac to tumble down into the rest of the mud, his shorts completely covered.
"Oh, you'll pay for that!" He promised. She jumped up and turned to face him, her body crouched into a fighting stance, reading for whatever he throws at her."Amity, wanna join." Pippa called out, her eyes locked on her target. "He can't beat both of us."
"No, I don't think so." I grimaced. Even as a kid, I hated getting dirty. When other kids were making mud pies, I was playing Barbie's inside the house.
"Come on!" Isaac invited. I just shook my head. "Okay." He groaned, walking over to stand beside me.
"Don't let me bother you." I joked. "Go play in the sprinkler."
I smiled at him, noticing the mischievous look in his dark eyes a second too late. He wrapped his arms around my waist and hoisted me over his shoulder in one swift motion.
"Isaac!" I pounded my fists against his back. "Put me down!""Pippa, get her phone out of her pocket." Isaac instructed, and I felt the mobile slip out of the back of my jeans. "Are you wearing anything expensive?"
"Well, no but-"
With a warrior's roar he flipped me from his shoulder into his arms bridal-style, before plopping me down right in the puddle, cold murky water seeping through my pants seat instantly.
"ISAAC!" I shrieked.
I rose from the ground, fury pumping through my veins as I sprinted towards him, chasing him halfway down the street before he turned and dodged me, heading back to the sprinkler. I ran after him, tackling him to the ground like he'd done to Pippa, only I ended up sitting on top of him.
Flushed, I jumped up, raising my fists into the sky in victory."Amity." Isaac said, his voice deep and husky, just quietly enough that Pippa couldn't hear him. "I think you should change your shirt before I do something I regret."
I looked down to my pale blue shirt, which had been soaked and now stuck to the tiny red bralet I wore underneath. I quickly wrapped my arms around my chest, ignoring the lustful look in Isaac's eyes. My stomach cramped up from the interaction."You can borrow one of my shirts." Isaac offered as he stood up.
