Failure to be a parent (Part 2 - Ed, Edna, Libby and Cliff)

The couple solemnly made it to the rest of the (impatiently) waiting adults, who were pacing around and looking extremely worried.

Once Cyrus noticed them, and not Ed and Edna, he blinked. "Where's Mr and Mrs Walker?" He asked, completely oblivious to what just happened not even 50 meters away.

Libby felt tears drip onto her clothes as she realised how much she messed up.

"Oh.." Maya realised what had happened, and soon did Ray. They knew why she was crying, and why Ed and Edna weren't out here with them.

"W-What's going on..?" Julien called out, looking at all the other clueless parents who raised a concerned eyebrow at the four.

"I-I never meant it to seem like I didn't care about Jay! I do I promise!" She cried. "If I kept him with me then none of your kids would be together!"

Ed stepped out of where he lived after he heard was Libby cried out last. Edna followed after.

"What's happening, if you don't mind me asking?" She asked. Lou took it upon himself to explain the situation to the confused woman.

"Our kids. Seliel, Cole, Skylor, Kai, Nya, Jay, Morro, Pixal and Lloyd. They've been captured and tortured." He sighed shakily, pacing around again as he doesn't want to lose Cole too, and disappoint his wife..and break his promise.

Ed and Edna's eyes widened. Jay..is captured? He's being hurt?

"And it's only a matter of time before they could.." Misako chimed in, before going silent at the realisation that her son could die. Garmadon was here, and was even showing affection to her, no matter his evil form.

Cliff looked up at them both. "That's why we came to you. We didn't mean it to be an explanation. We were going to explain with Jay right by our side after we saved him."

Oh. Oh. Ed felt bad.

He stumbled across his words for a few moments before sighing and giving in. "We're coming. But I don't want to here a word from you about Jay until I get an explanation, not an excuse.

After a long few hours, the adults finally found themselves at the cave where their children are supposedly being held hostage.

But there's one problem.

"Cyrus? Is there any entry? What about you Julien?"

The two turned around, their own minds boggled on how anyone could get in here. Everyone else started to panic as they felt the seconds would count down until their children's demise.

Libby, Cliff, Ed and Edna on the other hand were face to face.

"Look, I'm sorry. But right now isn't the time for apologies. My-" He sighed as he felt the glare of Cliff burn him. "Our son is in there! We can't be wasting any time!"

"Well that's maybe because there's no visible entrance to this f*cking place." The actor mumbled, a salty tone in his voice. Ed rolled his eyes as the two women watched, worried.

"Well maybe if you didn't come up with excuses and actually told us straight away that Jay was being hurt we would've came!" He snapped back.

Libby spoke up. "We tried! But you invited us for tea as if this was a damn mother's meeting! And every time we tried to talk, you cut us off!" She looked at Ed straight in the eyes.

"Well maybe it's your own fault for leaving him in the first place!"

"We had no choice!"

"M-Ma? Dad? Y-You two?"

The four turned around and saw Jay.

He had tears in his eyes as he had a hurt, shocked and betrayed expression on his face.

"Jay! Oh thank heavens you're okay!"

Edna went up to hugs her son, but was pushed away by the freckled boy. Hurt, she stepped back and didn't say anything.

The ninja turned and looked at the younger couple.

"So..after all these years..all these lies.." He mumbled, with a shake of his head.

Libby swallowed. "H-Hey Jay-"

She was immediately cut off. "Shut your f*cking mouth."

Everyone was shocked by his language.

"S-So..You left me on a porch in the pouring rain and thunder in the early spring where it's still freezing outside?! And you just say 'Hey Jay'?!" He voice became louder and louder with each word. Libby jumped and hid behind Cliff, and that's who he turned to next.

"You."

"You're the one I looked up to all my life. My favourite movie star." He muttered. Cliff smiled weakly.

"Only to find out your the same b*tch who dropped me for his f*cking career!" Tears pooled out of his baby blue eyes that he unfortunately inherited from Libby.

"It wasn't like that Jay! For gods sake, if I kept you, you would've never known you were a lightning master!" The blonde cried.

Jay was absolutely baffled by what she was saying.

"And-And I couldn't take that risk!"

At this point, he snapped.

"You only cared about me because I inherited your f*cking powers?! I'm your son for hell's sake!" His voice became shakier. "You couldn't take that risk because you only wanted to be out of the job as an elemental master! You never cared about me!"

But then, he sighed in anger and turned to Ed and Edna.

They smiled weakly, but it didn't stay.

"So..it's their fault for leaving me? You're making me sound like a burden to you!"

Ed realised what he said, and he spoke up. "I-I-I didn't meant it like that, I-"

"Save it." He snapped.

"You two are both liars. Libby, Cliff, you're complete failures at being a parent, and Ma, Dad, you need to work on your words! Even if you didn't mean it, it still f*cking hurts!"

And with that, he stormed off, blood dripping down into his clothes and tears mixing with it.

Ed looked down at his hands.

"W-We're failures."
