I sat down on the little sofa. I pressed my knees against my chest as I enjoyed the total darkness of the house.

Most people are afraid of the darkness, but it makes me feel safe. I can hide in it... people can't see my tears in the darkness. It's not like they can even see me.

I sigh as I throw my head back to rest it at the end of the sofa.

She died. It's been a week.

Less than two days... that's all she had left the moment she was taken to the hospital.

The cycle of life... many die and many are being born on the same day... even in the same second.

I wonder if I maybe should have had spent more time with her but deep down I know that was impossible. She was a weird woman... my family has always been just mom and dad, no nobody else...

I like to daydream about all my relatives being close to each other but there is too much poison in them.

Things are never perfect and sometimes you just gotta accept that. Disgraces happen, you can't change that... the only thing that should matter is how you react to them.

My parents are not coming home at all in two days as they have to prepare the funeral and all that stuff.

Sometimes I just want to disappear to not have to face things, but at the end of the day, you have to.

Death doesn't sound that scary to me anymore, it's eternal darkness after all... right?

I love the darkness...

Lazily, I stand up. I walk to my wardrobe to get a hoodie and put on my sneakers. I take my wallet before I open the door.

I close my eyes as the cold wind of the winter hits my cheeks but it doesn't make me shudder. I open my eyes once again once I feel my stomach growl.

I groan annoyed before I close the door, going inside again.

I walk to the tiny kitchen of the apartment. I know I can't eat most of the stuff here but there is something I can eat without problems.

I open a sack on the floor. I take two of the thingy I'm looking for. I open the faucet to let water pour over them. After a couple of seconds, I take a big bite of one of them.

A freaking potato.

It is a thing I can eat without problems.

I get out of the house eating a potato while the other one is in the pocket of my hoodie.

I walk to downtown. My plan is to go to the supermarket to get chips...

༻✦༺

I walk out of the supermarket holding a bag with my chips inside... I got two family-size bags, one barbecue and one of salt & vinegar...

I walk through the bridge over the deep river. The place is kind of illuminated...

I look aside a brief second to appreciate the river. When I look back to the front, I spot someone swinging their leg over the other side of the bridge.

I stand frozen on my spot as I analyze the situation. I have seen many people do this before... they just like to sit there to see the river.

But those thoughts don't make my heart beat any slower. I don't think... the person moves again.

The bag falls out of my grip almost automatically as I turn pale.

"NO! DON'T DO IT!" I scream at the top of my lungs as I run towards the person who has now both legs at the other side.

The person looks at me, but I can't see who it is because of the bad lighting.

They quickly stand up on the edge. As they are about to jump off, I hold the person, hugging them from behind through the fence.

I hear heavy steps coming towards us but I only focus on trying to keep the person put in place.

Soon, a police alarm rings in my ears.

Two strong arms snake around the person's waist, letting me go as I'm not helping anymore.

"JUST LET ME JUMP!" A female voice screams...

Around three police officers run towards us.

The one that looks stronger pulls the woman up from where she is. He softly sets her down on the bridge.

I put my hand over my heart as I take huge breaths trying to calm myself down. Here's when I notice that I'm violently shaking. My knees give up, making me collapse onto the floor.

"Babe! Are you okay?!" A worried male voice says from afar even though I'm sure he is close...

Koo?

I look up just to find his worried eyes set on me. He wraps his arms around me, pulling me onto his lap to rock me back and forth like a little baby. I hold on tightly to his hoodie to feel him closer.

I hear the woman madly scream but I decide to ignore it.

Why would she do that...? It isn't the answer... is it?

Did I do wrong by stopping her?

I'm scared.

I'm scared
